Release service.subtitles.subscene
(2020-04-14, 11:52)AnonTester Wrote: See https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=351745 for the updated requirements. As the code is py2 and 3 compatible, the only change between Kodi 18 and 19 is the addon.xml file and if you maintain repositories, the version numbers need to be different.
It's up to you if maintaining multiple branches in git makes sense just for that. You could keep a single branch but just create 2 'release' zip files for each kodi version.

there is a trock for this. as long as code is py2 and python 3 compatable. you can simply leave out the python requred import completly in the xml. as kodi already imports the version built in depending on 18 vs 19.

seriously try it it works just leave out the import. delete that line it will install and work on both 18&19. auto widget dev did this sussesfuly so he doesn't need 2 versions. supports 17/18/and 19 all with one version in a single repo

Hi,

I'm running Kodi 18.6 on a Windows 10 machine.
I have version 1.7.2 of the add-on installed
For a while now whenever i look for subtitles it says: No subtitles found.
If i go and look on the website i find heaps of results for the same file.

Any ideas on how to get this great addon to work again?

Thanks!

Thank you for your hard work!

I'm on 18.6 ShieldTV, the addon works perfectly in the Plex addon, but it doesn't work at all in Google Drive addon... I wonder why

Subscene has a problem with arabic subtitles

Some subtitles are one file with subtitles for all episodes of the season and Kodi chooses subtitles

The problem is that some series cannot choose subtitles and some can

I tried more than one version of Subscene add-on and same problem

@Bigdrago This error is an issue with the special character in "Norwegian Bokmål".

Unfortunately, I don't have a Kodi 18 (or system with Python 2) to test.
If you can, try changing line 580 of .kodi/addons/service.subtitles.subscene/service.py to the following and try again:
Code:
                item['3let_language'].append(xbmc.convertLanguage(lang.decode('utf-8'), xbmc.ISO_639_2))
Got an error message or something not working as it should? Provide a full Debug log (wiki) via paste.kodi.tv

Still getting an error:

Is there a way to force install 1.9.0? I am installing but it still shows as 1.8.2.

v1.9.0 isn't actually any different from 1.8.2, except that it's specifically split in two files, one for Kodi18 and one for Kodi19. The only difference between the 18 and 19 version is the python requirement line in the addons.xml file. Kodi 18 needs python 2, kodi19 used to be fine with the same (provided the addon was dual compatible which Kodi devs wanted all addons to be), then they changed it and Kodi19 addons now require a py3 requirement, even if it's compatible for both - or no requirement at all which then side-steps this issue.

Re your error, it's a different one from before which means there's progress Smile

Based on the error, line 353 should be:
Code:
  title, year = xbmc.getCleanMovieTitle(filename)

[updated: clarification re kodi 18/19 and v1.8.2 vs v1.9.0]

Update2:
I just realised that I already fixed this in my version and a PR for this was opened back in April. I backported several changes including Kodi18+19 compatibility and bumped the version number to 1.9.3. You can get it from my kodi repository: https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo/...-1.0.0.zip  or just this version from https://github.com/AnonTester/kodi-repo/...-1.9.3.zip
