It is a nasty hack that reduces bandwidth and there is not much evidence that it helps.
I'd like to hear from P33M whether it is good or not before recommending it.

You can't.

Try this:
http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-Raw-Copy-Tool/

It doesn't check the destination card size when writing, so as long as there's no actual used data beyond the 8GB mark (which, for OpenELEC, there usually isn't), you should be in business.

I use USBIT alexpage.de/usb-image-tool/

In the options there is a checkbox for 'truncate over sized image'. (Need to be device mode, little drop down box volume mode/device mode)

I think the best way is to first shrink the ext4 partition to ~7GB or less, then make image, that way you can truncate it.

Pretty stoked to try 3.2, thank youSmile
When I updated to 3.2 from 3.0.6 after it rebooted it says 'kernal panic - not syncing - attempt to kill init'.

Edit - I got 3.2 image from thestatofme.com and replaced the FAT partition and its all good.
WOW 3.2 is really really really fast. The boot time is insanely fast, menus are faster, starting media is faster, its incredible.

The issue I had with

Pinpointed when it happens, it happens if a different audio format is played. For example if I play something with dolby audio then play something with with AAC it will pop at the start. But wont happen if I play the same audio format again.

Seems to have disappeared as far as I can tell. (Which is good news for me because I had the amp booked in for warranty repair and I had to drive to another city to drop it off.)
i have followed the links to the builds done by Rbej, howerever the file called "Rbej-Version-Frodo-Branch and dated 13/09/2013 opens in a folder with gotham.

i guess this is strange, but more importantly, i guess a better question would be;

which build branch do most users run? Gotham 13 or Frodo 12.2 ?

thx for reading,
D.
I use Frodo ,Gotham still gives me network share error once in awhile
