OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi Part 2

Enable debugging and post (to http://xbmclogs.com/) xbmc.log may provide some information.
Other option is to upload a sample (cut down to 200MB with mmg from http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/) to dropbox or similar and give me a link.

Here's a snippet of xbmc.log:

Can you post whole log? Sounds like gpu_mem is set too low.

Hmm, that will cause problems.
You could back out the texture pipeline commit which will avoid that errror.
I'll think about what could cause that.

Another issues.

I cant install any add-on. Net and zip. Shoutdown and restart not working.

I've updated frodo_rbp_backports and this issue should be fixed.

Best xbmc build i test at moment in terms of buffer streaming playback, much better than Gothan build. I dont care about speed interface but i care about a solid buffer playback.

Thanks.

I haven't try yet popcornmix builds, but will do any day. Smile

Good call! I set gpu_mem=128 in the config.txt and everything plays now. Thanks!

Next goal is to get a SBS movie playing on this build!
when will be an new gotham build relased?=?

MediaInfo shows that they're MPEG-1 Layer 3 audio but S-MPEG 4 v2 video. Can XBMC not play this? If not, can someone recommend an easy way for him to transcode (i.e. without losing quality) them to something that will be compatible with most devices?

In addition he has some files which MediaInfo identifies as Mpeg-4 (Microsoft) which also only play the audio on the RPi.

Is there any way to play these and the S-Mpeg 4 files on the RPi? He says he's got quite a lot of files burnt to disc and it's going to be a major chore if he has to convert them all to another format for the RPi to be able to play them. I don't even know how he'd go about this without worsening the quality either.
Test OE version Gotham devel-20131025192011-r1693

When I go to System > Settings > System >
the window "Save resolution" pop up without click on something.
This window stay 8 seconds, shuts and immediatly reappears for 8 seconds then shuts.
If I move the mouse from any place to the "Video" button (without click) the window appears again with the same behaviour.

Let me know if you need any other info
Test OE version Gotham devel-20131025192011-r1693

When I play the following files, I have drops every 3/5 seconds for 0.3/0.5 second.
AVR see PCM Multichannel and loose the info and drop the sound.

Test OE version Gotham devel-20131025192011-r1693

Could you tell me what should be the behaviour when restart and when reboot.
What should I see on the RPi leds?
At this time it seems to be the same thing.

This is a bug that has been mentioned many times in this thread.
xbmc (often) crashes on shutdown which stops the reboot process, and xbmc just respawns.

It's a bug with python jobs being deleted before they complete. It affects all platforms,
but it's timing related and it seems to hit the Pi much more often than other platforms.

I've been told:
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/48dc...fffb856064
could fix it, and I'm just doing a build to test it.

Can you download start.elf and fixup.dat from:
https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-firmware/tree/next

and replace the ones you are using. There is a fix to spdif formatting of HDMI PCM data which could improve things.
Even if it doesn't, the new firmware has some config options that we can try to tweak some of the ways HDMI audio is clocked.
