OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi Part 2
(2014-03-10, 00:34)popcornmix Wrote: For people with freezes - do you have fiq_fsm enabled? Can you try this on cmdline.txt
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=0

Did this, and have been streaming for an hour now without any issues.
Seems to have fixed it, but will keep an eye on it.

I must of entered it wrong the first time i tried. This bandaid works for me. Is there a way to get to a shell in openelec when there isn't a network? If there is, i'll revert and try to find a keyboard..
I have just installed the latest version of OpenElec with Gotham beta 1 and am having massive problems with movies pausing / stuttering. While this use to happen occasionally with XBMC 12.2 it was nowhere near as bad as with Gotham. I have DTS passthrough enabled, which from reading many posts on the subject seems to be the issue. Is there a fix for this yet? I have posted snippets of the log below from when the pause occur..

The builds in this thread are not about the beta. The builds in this thread are more experimentel builds. I suggest to use this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=188659

On the other hand, I haven't had these issues. Even with 'good old' frodo.
Hi Guys,

Getting the same lockups as others report while playing a movie

On the other hand, I haven't had these issues. Even with 'good old' frodo.

Ok I will re-post in the suggested thread ....

Frodo was fine with only a few pauses ... Gotham beta 1 is terrible and the films are unwatchable Sad
Using the latest build I get a black screen when I enable De-interlacing in OXMplayer. I am using cmyth to stream mpg2 cable channels... If I try and use DVD Player, all i get is a black screen with audio.

Thanks!

What's your gpu_mem? Try increasing it.

I have a 256 Meg PI... What should it be set to?

128M minimum, but if you are having problems try 144.
Using dvdplayer for 1080p is likely to be difficult on a 256M Pi as it requires more memory than omxplayer.
I do have an idea for reducing dvdplayer's memory requirement substantially, but that will take some time.

Have you tried:
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=0
I've found another strange issue with OMXPlayer - again with current build. Don't have time to right now to check which build this issue began, but can do later.

Zooming (I have remote keys to zoom in and out) does not zoom the image but only changes the framing (ie black line of the border). So zooming in (zoom amount decreasing) brings the frame inwards but doesn't change the video so the view gets smaller and shows less of the actual video. Conversely zooming out (zoom amount increasing) the frame moves outwards but the video does not change - when the frame size reaches beyond the screen the zooming effectively is doing nothing).

This is the same with all codecs I tried (XVID, H264, MP4).

DVDplayer does not show this behaviour and zooms as expected.

BTW I've disabled FIQ_FSM and so far no lock up issues after an hour or two of playing video.

Have you tried:
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=0

I can confirm that since I've added this setting, no lockups

This setting has 3 enable bits in. It would be interested to determine which bit causes the lockup. Can you (anyone who sees the lockup) try:
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=1
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=2
Code:
dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=4

Hopefully just one of those will lock up.

EDIT: correct fiq_fsm_enable to fiq_fsm_mask.
Tried the 0 setting tonight: Watching movie was fine. But crashed again with running texturecache C. (actually: the movie was played fine until the end, putty was already crashed. After the movie XBMC had no images at all I use NFS for movies and MySQL.... So no complete network disruption this timeHuh)

I have seen the message (in the top, which normally says: CEC enabled, library update, etc): "Device succesfully disconnected flash" right in time XBMC crashes. (translated from dutch, so can be a slight different)

Tried 1 -> Texturecache finished!
Tried 0 (again)-> Crashed with texturecache. So 0 isn't working for me.
Tried 2-> Texturecache crashed at the end
Tried 4 -> Texturecache finished!
Tried 2 (again) -> Crashed again.....

So 1 and 4 seems to be running for me.

/edit: Tried again with 4 -> Crash. Retried Crashed....
Changed to 1 -> Crashed... Tried again: Crash
Running overclocked mode. Can test more tomorrow: what do you suggest: test with 'older' build or remove overclock?
