I think you talk about DTS-HD and TrueHD which need 8 channels at 192 khz.
Yes, Windows drivers are incapable of turning off the mixer and don't expose Dolby Digital or DTS on the "Supported Formats" tab of the HDMI audio device for 'Z' series mobile baytrail.
The hardware actually supports 8 channel 192 Khz PCM but can't be used for DTS-HD or TrueHD as seen in the datasheet for the STREAM_A_LPE_AUD_CONFIG register:
Bits 3:2 - FORMAT: 00: L-PCM or IEC 61937 01: High Bit Rate IEC 61937 stream packet (not supported) 10: One Bit Audio Sample packet (not supported) 11ST Audio Sample packet (not supported)
You would need to software decode any surround formats to multi-channel PCM. The desktop motherboards discussed in this thread are different.
