does anything work wireless to your smart tv?
Without knowing what kind of tv, I'm not sure we can offer much more help.
You've asked a very open ended question.

So the files are stored on your NAS which has upnp capabilities, but instead of going from your NAS to your TV, you want to go from your NAS to your notebook to your TV?

XBMC can send/play movie to remote player (renderer) via Upnp/dlna, so If your tv supports dlna it should work

Unfortunately some TV vendors UPnP/DLNA implementation varies enough that XBMC cannot command it through UPnP and probably requires a compatibility profile.
