I followed the post on the intel forum to get intel audio going then installed 3.14 rc1 kernel (3.13.2 doesn't work)
Then added xorg-edger repository to update to mesa 10.1. Initially, I had a problem where hdmi audio wasn't working so i had to remove pulseaudio then the option for passthrough shows up. Also, I found that xbmc did not play videos with hardware acceleration cpu was in the high 90% when decoding high bit rate h264. I quickly realized VAAPI wasn't working then it turns out I had to update intel vaapi drivers.
I couldn't find any prebuilt package for the updated vaapi intel drivers for baytrail so had to build from source (my genius friend helped me). I still have the .deb package if anyone suggest a place to upload then I can post it.
Thanks for the tip. The new kernel did the trick, I have audio for all Linux users now, but so far I couldn't build the VAAPI drives, but I want to do it myself, so I'll resist asking for the deb file .
What does updating to mesa 10.1 do? If it's for the video acceleration, then maybe that's why I can't build the vaapi drivers. 3D acceleration works well.
