I normally run Windows 8, but tried to play around with OpenELEC off a USB drive. When it loaded up, I didn't see any option to run it off the USB drive, it only had an option to reformat my SSD, which I didn't want to do since it had my Windows 8 install on it. I rebooted back into Windows, but now I can't get an IP address from my wired connection. I've tried using DHCP, setting a static IP, releasing and renewing the IP address, and nothing is working. I just can't get a proper IP address to save my life. I know it's not the router because my laptop connects to it using the same ethernet cable and the same port just fine. I know it's not just a Windows issue because it says the network is disconnected even in the bios (where it would normally say it's connected).
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What can I try to fix it? I'm at my wit's end trying to get a simple IP address on a wired connection.
I can't give you advice regarding the DHCP problem, but if you want to test Openelec with a live usb stick, please follow these instructions:
http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php/Live_B...stallation
There are two scripts: create_installstick, which is meant to be used for installation, and create_livestick, which you need to use for live booting from a pendrive.
Kind regards.

After a long wait i also received my nuc 2820 (The Netherlands)
Installation with a nightly build of openelec was quite simple (build R17733)
the only issue im facing is the DTS-HD master auto. I have a DTS-HD capable receiver (harman kardon avr 460)
When playing a movie i hear a chopper like sound and also the image is slowed down.
I already played with some settings but i cannot figure it out. Some of you seem to have this working.
Please let me know which settings you guys have used.
For what i have seen so far im really enthausiastic about this product and the functionality.
Also, in order to do proper bitstreaming/hdmi passthrough you need to enable "dts-hd capable" AV in system->audio settings.
