There are some nice to have's with windows 8.1, you can use the DLNA functions built into it. The iHeart radio app, is nice to push to other rooms without having to manage a remote. I also like that you can run the most current nightly builds on windows with little to no effort, download and run, vs OE. In addition to a PC which has a large raid partion, I am also using a Amazon Fire TV in addition to an old PC with OE installed. Not to mention windows media center actually shares very large .5TB music collections very nicely.
