Because you're doing it wrong. XBMC 12.2 is not supported anymore, and transcoding is done in tvheadend itself with the latest versions, not in the addon.

You could set up several different streaming profiles and allocate them to different users, and then change the user as which XBMC (and 12.2 is still firmly that ) connects to the back end. Clumsy, perhaps, but workable...?
