Solved APNG Support
#1
Hi,

I backed a project on kickstarter some times ago, and I really think it could benefit XBMC. Now that some first releases are out, I'm creating this thread to bring it to your attention.
I know that one of the thing that makes heavier skins heavy is animations. From what I know, the only ways to have a nice animation in XBMC is either to have a folder with multiple PNG appearing turn by turn, or using GIF.
Well, this project is about APNG support. It supports Linux, Windows and Mac platforms and is aimed not only at creating support librairies for program reading APNG, but also creating librairies for Photoshop/Gimp or other softwares.
Having APNG supports inside XBMC's core could dramatically improve animations in skins. And creating APNG should now be easier than it was before.

Last update (apngasm 3.0.0 Official Release) : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/374...sts/758533

Well, thanks for reading, and I truly hope this makes it to XBMC.
(I can't code and can't learn to do so properly in the next year or so, but if I did, I'd give it a try).

Apngs are now supported as skin textures, e.g., background, posters, etc. The files must have the extension .apng.
