SMB shares with Windows Vista does not work
#61
this is a issue with the samba version we are using. they have made some fixes for this in newer samba builds (yes I will update as soon as their D release comes out)
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

I came here to post the same thing about the new samba d build. I can wait though. Never realized how great smb was until it didn't work anymore.

at least i do it , Big Grin

i already make the fu---- connection
ok what i did what this
go to this adress
http://konsolenprofis.de/downloads/download.php?id=643

and download Xbox ccXgui v1.4
after you download this file you nedd to install in your pc easy actually
but there is someting you need to see
when you instal this aplication there is two ways the full and the small

be sure you only choose one full or small not both
afet you install go to your program files folder and open the folder ccXgui and run ccx_gui.exe yopu need to add a path of your share folder
after that yu can choose hide and you will see a small popup that say the ip of you computer and the port

now in your xbmc in the video files use the white butoon and choise add source , enter the name that you like amd the path is like
xbms://the_ip_of_your_pc:1400/folder_name/
and press ok
and that all works great for me
thanks for the tips

Thanks for the info but my still doesn't work.

Did you have windows sharing enabled on that folder?
Did you supply a username and password?
are you using the windows firewall?

Thanks
Simon

hopefully the new smb version will be included soon.

I still can't get ccxgui to work (connecting via the xbos or even the ccx_test program says can't connect)
#70
I think I read on xboxscenes forums that ccxgui 1.3 works better than 1.4 in Vista. For me 1.4 didn't work properly. I could see my shares but if I tried to play a movie it kept stopping. Not tried 1.3 myself so can't comment

I too have been using Vista for quite some time. On prior versions of XBMC, it worked without a hitch. As soon as 2.x.x came out, that is when issues surfaced.

Now that Vista has been released to manufacturing, perhaps it is time to start looking a this in XBMC. It is stable, and being produced.

I have a legit copy of Vista, and am willling to work with XBMC developers to test fixes and provide logs.

Please, help us bleeding edge types out!

this is a small tutorial to make it the connection , all i show here is what i did not more not less

fir of all you need to download Xbox ccXgui v1.4
http://konsolenprofis.de/downloads/download.php?id=643

you need to unzip this file in your computer if you already have another vercion you need to follow the pdf files that tell you what do you need

you need to open this file
Image

you will install this app be sure you only choose full install this is for windows 2k to up
Image

when you finish this you need to open the app you can go to your program files folder or where you installed it (my path is this)

Image

when the app is open you need to add a folder whit add share buttom
Image

make sure you have the ownership of this file , if you are not sure make this
select the folder that you like to share and rigth buttom (mouse) properties , security tab and click advanced , owner tab, edit, select you user name if you dont have user make sure to add your user here ( if you not select Other users or group , advanced, find now, "select your user name" , ok, ) now you need select the "remplace owner on subcontainer and objects" this is gonna take a few moments to change the ownership.

now be sure that you select start server click here and after hide to hide the app. click here.

now follow this pictures to confing your xbmc

make sure to addthe ip of your pc follow :1400 (port)
if you are not sure how to know the ip off your pc go to
in your keyboard pulse "windows buttom + r" write cmd in promp put "ipconfig" all without the " and search for IPv4 Address and thats your ip , in your xbox your ip must have
your pc ip + 1
example
pc ip : 194.165.1.41
xbox : 194.165.1.42

finally got it working! i uninstalled ccxgui 1.41 and used 1.4 instead - but I think the ownership thing might have been key as well

thanks
