When I speak about network speed, I'm thinking about a firmware issue with the box, not the quality of your network.

if the Amazon Fire TV fireware was causing lag why is it working on the XBMC on Ouya version? on the video i run XBMC v13 xbmc-20140404-eb4e0ea-fixamcoutput-armeabi-v7a.apk to compare gotham vs the ouya version of xbmc.
Indeed. As I said, it's quite strange...
Did you try libstagefright on Gotham?

libstagefright was on, medicacodec was on = stutters
libstagefright was off, medicacodec was on = stutters
Diegomejia: Can you:
1) plug in a keyboard
2) playback video
3) Press 'o'
4) record and upload a video of the information in the upper left hand corner

It would be helpful to get video acceleration working to do this with all four combinations:
libstagefright was on, medicacodec was on = stutters
libstagefright was off, medicacodec was on = stutters
libstagefright was on, medicacodec was off = stutters
libstagefright was off, medicacodec was off = stutters
Would it be wise to play the test videos from the fire tv's local storage? Would this not be important to try as to focus the testing on hardware acceleration only, and remove all the other variables that the networking component and the subsystems brings in? Reading the whole thread it seems there is possibly an issue outside of the hardware acceleration. I'm not able to help with trying until Monday when the unit arrives.

Both are the same Wink
If mediacodec is on, it is used anyway. You have to "libstagefright ON, medicacodec OFF" to actually use libstagefright.

Question is: Does libstagefright-only on Gotham run worse than "XBMC on Ouya" (which is libstagefright)?
Pics do not say much about it...

Libstagefright played fine with bugs life 720p but choked when I put swordfish 1080p. Xbmc on ouya plays every file stutter free.
@Koying
I went ahead and installed XBMC for OUYA 12.3.2. Libstagefright acceleration was enabled, and I played a 1080p x264/DTS MKV. Smooth as butter, with no dropped frames. Log: http://pastebin.com/yW9PfZQb

I then played the same MKV in your latest Gotham test build. MediaCodec disables, only Libstagefright enabled. Tons of dropped frames, and completely unwatchable. Log: http://pastebin.com/fDsTvMPq

So I guess it's reasonable to say libstagefright was working better in the OUYA build, at least when it comes to Snapdragon processors.
Kinda random comment here but it also may be worth noting that Archos Video player and MX player are not dropping frames either and can play 1080 perfectly without any modificiations. So it seems HW accel with XBMC seems to be an issue that is at the apk level and not related to hardware.

Did you try spmc? Or beyond Xbmc or there is beyond Xbmc for ouya too
Helpful tutorial to sideload apps on Fire TV for newbs.
I got my Fire TV up and running last night on the Gotham beta posted in this thread and things look promising. One thing I'm struggling with is how can I move over/edit the advancedsettings.xml and add skins? On xbmcbuntu, I just SSH in with Cyberduck and make my changes, is there a similar way I can do that on the Fire TV?

Thanks. Needed a dummies guide Smile.

Wondering though, with only 8GB of internal storage (of which I think only like 5GB+ is usable), space will run out quick with sideloaded apps. Can a USB memory stick be plugged in to add storage for apps? Anyone know?

Does DTS work?
