Depends on the skin, however on most you would push 'up' and at the bottom is library update. For the 'right click' menu you would use the 'menu' button with three lines on it up (with fire tv remote).

I was referring to the Media Information Screen. http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Vid...ion_screen

On the appleTV you just got to it through using the long press. The option to go to it isn't available by selecting a movie and hitting the menu button on the remote.

In Gotham you just press the Menu button (one with the 3 lines), scroll down to Manage, then scroll down to Movie Information. There's no single button that you can use to pull it up directly.

*Shrug* Sorry, but it works fine for me. Did you change the keymap?

Are there any settings I should change out of the box? I'm attempting to play a 13GB h.264 movie over an https source and while it plays there is very noticeable stutter/jitter in the video. 0 dropped frames are being reported by xbmc however, and cpu usage doesn't seem to go above 50%. Everything seems to be working fine with the same video/source on SMPC 12.4.2 though, which is great!

Try turning off MediaCodec acceleration in the Video settings (you will have to put the settings into Expert mode at the bottom left).

That did the trick, thanks!
Is anyone else having trouble getting to the on screen keyboard within XBMC? For example I need to change the workgroup so I can access my smb shares, and it will bring up the keyboard but will not let me actually get to where I can navigate around the keys - the cursor just stays up in the part where the current workgroup is displayed. I have been keeping up with this thread and I'm not sure I saw this mentioned, but maybe its just because I'm finally "in the weeds" so to speak.

I also see that there are alternate keymaps but I thought they were more suggestions rather than necessities.

EDIT: Oh man do I feel like a RTFM Noob - it's right there in the wiki. Sorry guys.

Here is the log for testing on and on, on and off, off and on.

Pretty low frame rates - 9-17FPS.

Looks like VC1 is not supported by the box, indeed.
Could you try with whatever default player is installed on the FTV to confirm, please.

The log uploader error is due to our log site being down, currently.

I contacted Amazon about this and received this:

Quote:I understand that you would like to know if Amazon Fire TV supports VC1 video codec.

I've looked up your inquiry , searched our website and see that under the Technical details page it clearly states that VC1 Video codec is a currently supported content format on Amazon Fire TV.

You should be able to access VC1 content on your Fire TV. I’d like to apologize to you as this information isn’t mentioned or made clear on our developers website page.

However If you are still unable to access VC1 content on the device , then please write back using the link below with additional information including any error messages :

I'm curious if it's in scope to try to reproduce the amazing voice recognition search functionality into an XBMC for Fire TV specific build?

The voice search is just amazing and would LOVE to see it work within XBMC....

Seems like a level 1 support response to me ;-)

I linked earlier to their dev doc saying otherwise.
You should respond with this link, hoping it will be escalated to a real engineer...

Here, VP8 is specified but not VC1

That is such a f***ing facile answer. You don't have to search far to find the VC1 claim. It's right there on their web page featuring the Firetv
Quote:Video: H.263, H.264, MPEG4-SP, VC1

You'd expect even a low level support drone to supply more info than what is currently on the goddamn website.

Man I get sick of these sort of levels of support. Sounds like my ISP.

"My internet isn't working and I am pissed about the 40 minutes it took someone to answer the phone"
"OK you do know you can lodge a support ticket on our website..."
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

Yeah. The game those days is to skip lvl 1 support robots as fast as possible to reach real knowledgeable people Wink

Yep, I didn't figure that I would get anything other than a L1 support answer and I plan on pushing the issue to see whether it is supposed to be supported or one of their marketing team was just over zealous. It could be that there might be plans to add this in FW updates and someone included it in the specs before they should.

In my question I did link to the discrepancies between what they had on the product page and the dev page, which why they gave me the reply of "I'd like to apologize to you as this information isn’t mentioned or made clear on our developers website page.".

I just thought everyone might want to know what the response I received on this matter. I'll update on any further responses I receive as I try to get this escalated, if anyone's interested that is.

Right now it's not that big of a issue for me as it's not something that I really use, I more concerned at the moment about getting the mkv/h.264 stutter issue resolved. But I know this is a concern for others that I know as they don't like to re-encode their vids and why I was attempting to find out if Amazon was misrepresenting the Fire TV. Before I push it any further though, I need to do some more tests.

Oh, ok.
Could you post the result of
Code:
adb shell cat /system/etc/media_codecs.xml

This should hold the truth.

<MediaCodec type="video/x-ms-wmv" name="OMX.qcom.video.decoder.vc1">
That looks similar to the Nexus 5.

It looks like on the Nexus 7, you needed root access to unlock all the hardware codecs.

Woops... I'm running off a mysql db with an imported config. Somehow my library content for my movies was set to none. Switched it back to movie and now I have the information menu. Thanks for confirming it was there, i never thought of rechecking that.

No problem, glad to see you figured out the problem. Smile
I had a library issue that turned out to be an oversight on my behalf earlier in the thread. We are kindred spirits...lol.
