OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi Part 3 (Kodi 14.0)
#61
Dear @MilhouseVH

I am using version Hifiberry Digi low experimental version of OpenELEC XBMC with very good results in general.

Sometimes the audio is quite annoying, as it has a similar effect to Alvin and the Chipmunks, I imagine it will be a problem of frequency settings or something.

The problem is to solve this issue, I must go to the audio settings and select:

Output Configuration: Fixed

normally when it is configured as:

Output settings: Optimized

this must be changed every time the problem occurs with the audio.

Any solution??
#62
FYI, I'm using 0417b with the Hifiberry DAC, works perfectly, great sound through a BGW power amp and a pair of Electrovoice Sentry 10's...
#63
I'm getting a similar issue, screen blanks intermittantly.

Log is filled with

I'm away for weekend. Will rebase when back (Monday night), but I expect newclock3 patches could be applied to latest Gotham branch (although rc1 isn't out yet).
#66
It applies fine, although you do need to ignore several commits in newclock3 that are now in XBMC master.

Sounds like it should be reported on the PulseEight/CEC or OpenELEC github...

since beta 3.95.6 (i think).
when I play video, and change the source while playing, and then come back, I see the "NO SIGNAL" screen on tv, and I can connect to xbmc from ios app and see there the video still playing... the only thing is work after this situation happen is "reboot", it bring xbmc again...
if video is play before I change to the source - xbmc just show the "no signal" screen.

pi connected with lan cable to htpc, smb sharing, over mysql database (installed on htpc pc)

you mean to the "show 4:3 videos as.." - "normal"\"zoom"\"16:9" ........ this ?
cause in all my xbmc I always set this to '16:9" for old movies shows as a little square in the middle of the screen...
but I it will stop causing the problem, I will try it as soon I will be at home.

New OpenELEC Gotham build: #0423
(Supercedes previous build)

OpenELEC (Milhouse) - Version: devel-20140423020357-r18218-g56caed2

Based on tip of OpenELEC master (56caed2, changelog) and tip of XBMC master (15561b4, changelog) with the following modifications:
  • Includes newclock3 commits (except for 043ed58, a patch to avoid hammering the GUI, which has been replaced with a static spinner)
  • Includes kernel 3.14.y commits
  • Includes Python regex package for evaluation purposes. Initial benchmarking indicates generally positive (and in some cases, significant) performance gains. See this post for a description of how to test effectiveness of this package with addons
  • Excludes the OpenELEC fernetmenta patches due to conflict with newclock3
  • Excludes the OpenELEC gotham_rbp_backports patches in favour of sourcing these same patches directly from newclock3 branch
  • Default setting for "Show RSS Feed" changed to disabled
  • Disabled "Total Duration" in Confluence (see build #0221 for details)
  • ALSA is enabled and any suitable hardware should be available in XBMC Audio Settings
  • FIQ FSM is enabled by default (dwc_otg.fiq_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=1 dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_mask=0x7). See initial post for more details.
Build Highlights:

New firmware to fix spurious framerate switching with some files; newclock3 now supports switching to 3d modes automatically; new commits to kernel for fiq_fsm.

dvdplayer is now the default for dvd images - it has until now been omxplayer, unless you had already specified dvdplayer as <defaultdvdplayer> in your own advancedsettings.xml. This is now no longer necessary. The video defaults are now:
Code:
<video>
  <defaultplayer>omxplayer</defaultplayer>
  <defaultdvdplayer>dvdplayer</defaultdvdplayer>
</video>

  1. New Firmware Apr 23:
    • firmware: video_decode: Allow skipped frame. Make quality threshold higher to avoid false switches. See link
    • bootcode: Change sdram drive strength to match start.elf
  2. OpenELEC:
    • wlan-firmware: update to wlan-firmware-0.0.20
    • Modified before units of systemd in xbmc-(halt|poweroff|reboot) - should ensure that shutdown.sh is allowed to complete
    • eventlircd: change delayrate to 200ms for 'gpio-rc-recv'
    • connman: loopback.service: remove ExecStartPre
  3. XBMC:
    • fix album rating wasn't saved in the database
    • fixed: Downloading subs for rars was broken
    • ActiveAE: recreate sink buffers if frame size has changed
    • [guilib] animation length was calculated incorrectly from effects with different delays
    • [guilib] drop unused AddEffect() function
    • pvr: fix duplicate EPG IDs if EPG is not stored in database
    • ff_id3v2_free_extra_meta: set the pointer pointing to extra_meta to NULL. Fixes ticket #3530.
  4. newclock3:
    • [omxplayer] Make dvdplayer the default for dvd images
    • [graphics] Don't set stereo mode based on resolution. The resolution change should follow stereo mode
    • [graphics] Allow switching to a more suitable 3D resolution
    • [3D] Support switching to 3D resolutions
    • [graphics] Make pixel ratio for 3d modes consistent
  5. kernel
    • dwc_otg: Return full-speed frame numbers in HS mode
    • fiq_fsm: save PID on completion of interrupt OUT transfers
    • mach-bcm2708: Reserve 64 IRQs for peripherals
    • bcm2708_gpio: make room for additional GPIO chips
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

I'm not sure if either build was supposed to fix this, but FWIW, this latest build and the other recent one with FIQ changes still lockup randomly during videos with a USB wireless mouse dongle plugged in (unless dwc_otg.fiq_fsm_enable=0 is in cmdline)
