OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi Part 3 (Kodi 14.0)
(2014-05-07, 20:16)popcornmix Wrote: What is gpu_mem set to? Should be at least 128M, but if you have a 512M board then try setting it to 256M to rule out a memory issue.

If you still can't play the file, can you upload it somewhere (e.g. google drive or dropbox) and I'll have a look.

I had gpu mem @ 192, changing to 256 made no difference.

# lsb_release
OpenELEC_Helix (Milhouse) - Version: devel-20140508041500-r18356-gf5e975a

Based on tip of OpenELEC master (f5e975a, changelog) and tip of XBMC master (619880f, changelog) with the following modifications:
  • Includes newclock3 (except for 15eee8d, a patch to avoid hammering the GUI, which has been replaced with a static spinner)
  • Includes Python regex package for evaluation purposes. Initial benchmarking indicates generally positive (and in some cases, significant) performance gains. See this post for a description of how to test effectiveness of this package with addons
  • Excludes the OpenELEC linux-01-RPi_support patch in favour of sourcing these and possibly more recent patches directly from kernel branch rpi-3.14.y
  • Excludes the OpenELEC xbmc-master-newclock3 patch in favour of sourcing these and possibly more recent patches directly from newclock3 branch
  • Default setting for "Show RSS Feed" changed to disabled
  • Disabled "Total Duration" in Confluence (see build #0221 for details)
  • ALSA is enabled and any suitable hardware should be available in XBMC Audio Settings
  • FIQ FSM is enabled by default. See initial post for more details.
Build Highlights:

New 3.14.3 kernel. Fix for calibration settings not saving.

Anyone with calibration not saving issues, please test this and report back.

If I set the GUI to 1080p @ 60Hz the setting saves but the overscan does not. If I set the GUI to 1080p @ 50Hz the setting and overscan saves fine.

Are you sure you have updated correctly? Can you check version in system info?

I've just set different calibrations for 1080p 23.97, 24, 25, 30, 50, 59.94 and 60. I've restarted and all calibration are still present.

Anyone else tested this?
I have a problem with these newer builds, usb drives are unmounting automatically which is a problem because I'm running xbmc from usb drive. I swapped power supplies but it still happens. Any ideas.

thanks

Does adding this to cmdline.txt help?
Code:
fiq_fsm_enable=0
I'll try it. It does it randomly sometimes it goes hours other times a few seconds. I'll let you know if that works!

thanks

My bad. I hadn't upgraded! Sorry for the confusion.

Quick update:
I just tried playing using DVDPlayer, which gives me sound but still no picture.
When playing using OMXPlayer, the playing-timer always stops at 11 seconds. The timer continued correctly when using DVDPlayer.

mkv file plays fine for me. Your log has a lot of errors in from skin/add-ons. E.g.
Code:
21:26:47 102.350586 T:3058492192   ERROR: unable to load:/storage/.xbmc/addons/skin.eminence/1080i/VideoOverlay.xml, Line 0

Can I suggest you rename .xbmc folder and test with clean settings/default skin/no addons.
If that works, then configure the setting/skin/add-ons carefully, checking the file still plays after each change.
I've tried using confluence, which fails as well.
I'll try with a clean config, though, and see what happens.

edit: that seems to have fixed playing back that specific file. I'll see if I cant find out what's wrong.
Thanks for the feedback.

Am I the only one, that see many HDMI drop out on the Helix build ?
I see it with omxplayer movie playback, and also when I just see the Home menu i XBMC.. Strange.

I have tryed:
Many HDMI cables.
Change GUI resolution to 720.

But nothing works.

Somethime I can play a ½ movie, and suddenly it begins to flash (screen blinks) for 3 - 5 minutes.
If I stop the movie, the screen still flash/blinks.

Best regards
Helix build working perfectly here.

Try: config_hdmi_boost=4 (and then 7).
Try: hvs_priority=0xffff
