OpenELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi Part 3 (Kodi 14.0)
(2014-12-03, 08:37)givo Wrote: I've noticed strange thing using pvr.hts (TVH service is running on separate server). If I select TV channel on my Pi that is already playing for some other client on TVH service - my screen freezes, Upper-right corner show Buffering 0%, and it stays that way as long as I like. Kodi is responsive, so I can press Stop button, and it returns to GUI, or Up/Down and it switches to different channels and starts playing fine. TVH server shows it is streaming to me, I did some sniffing locally, and stream is definitelly comming to the Pi. If I start different TVH client (i.e. VLC on Win) - it plays fine.

Did some downgrading of Kodi - all of the betas are affected together with this RC. Will try to find Gotham installation, and test with it.

In debug log, this error pops-up:
40886.496094 T:2720003136 ERROR: ReadPacket - Error demux packet doesn't belong to a valid stream

Do I take this to TVH forum? It is confusing me that different client is playing fine?!?

I've tested with Gotham stable - it's working fine. So, this thing of not being able to start watching Live TV stream that is already watched by another user on TVH server is related to every Kodi beta and RC Sad

Here is respective part of the log file: <http://sprunge.us/iAEW>
Thanks gandharva. >Was just installing win32 diskmanager. Thanks for the point to the image file. Did not know which one as I could not see any from today. But I was blind Smile

Any idea if this affects x86 too?

Don't know. Did try just now installing Helix RC3 on Android (Huawei MediaQ) and same problem - doesn't start stream if it's been already watched. I will try to make xbmcbuntu stick and try to run it on my laptop...

If the bug is not Pi specific, then it's best to report in a more suitable forum (presumable the tvheadend forum) where the right devs are more likely to see it.

Will do. Just an update - on Android it's more like 50:50... it starts playing every other time Huh
Hello,

I am trying to play a video file from within a split rar-archive over smb. On 4.2.1 it works perfectly, but on the latest milhouse build (or any other build of openelec 5) it doesnt. When i view the folder in the video file browser in 4.2.1 it shows the video file inside the rar archive, but on 5.0 it shows it as a rar file of 14.31mb (size of the first rar part). When I try to play it i get the following errors in the log:

Is this a known regression? Does it include all of openelec or just the rPi build?

The same scenario works great on Win7 with Kodi 14 rc 3.

Thank you and best regards Jon

Such an easy fix! Thank you! =D
I have a quick question concerning the Milhouse builds, specifically about skins.

At the moment I'm running RC1 on my Pi B+ (with plan to update to RC2 this weekend if I get time) using the fork of the Amber skin for Kodi and it works fine. I'm interested to give the nightly builds a run to see the new and good stuff in them, but I see that they come with their own version of Confluence.

So my question is whether it's mandatory to use that modified Confluence, or would a Kodi/RC compatible skin work? I'm using Amber as I have the home screen modified to be a bit more family friendly (separate menu threads for family movies/TV and general movies/TV that wouldn't be suitable for the kids) which I'd prefer to keep if possible.

If I update to a nightly with the Amber skin am I just going into a world of incompatibility pain, or is there a change it would work? I thought I'd ask first before just jumping in and trying it, to save potential rebuild time if I need to switch back to RC again.

These test builds come with basically the same Confluence that you have in RC1 - OpenELEC ships with Confluence as the standard skin.

You can use Amber or any other Helix-compatible skin with these test builds, but when reporting bugs/issues etc. please verify the problem exists in stock Confluence to rule out any third-party skin issue.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.
OK thanks for the fast response - I'll give a nightly build a run this weekend then instead of RC2.

I just wanted to confirm that there weren't changes in the nightly that would render any skin other than your shipped one problematic.

No problem for the bug reports etc, I can understand where you're coming from to try and keep things as streamlined and simple as possible for finding issues.

I can't find many information or video on youtube about the graphics VideoCore IV in the B+ version: Is the 25 or 50 gb Blurry running smooth on the raspberry pi and openelec?

I assume you are talking about raw ISO files, rather that using a Blu-Ray drive?

Yes, I am able to play 50GB raw Blu-Ray ISOs on my Pi with OpenELEC.

It depends a bit on your setup.
If passthrough is supported by receiver it makes it easier.
Playing from a locally attached hard disk makes it easier.
NFS is better than SMB for when network attached. Mounting NFS share from OS rather than kodi GUI makes it easier.
Playing an mkv remux (without reencode) of the ISO makes it easier.
Overclock makes it easier.

You can get away with a couple of above being non-optimal, but if too many are you may struggle.
Perhaps explain your setup and I'll say if it sounds likely to work.

Thank you very much for your feedback and having taking time to answer my question.
