[RELEASE] Super Favourites AKA Super-Addon Creator
spoyser,
I tried - and failed...

I copied my Super Favourites folder, as a zip file, and then attempted to import it, as is, into the Android box, using the load zip file feature. This resulted in error messages saying something (I don't know what), was wrong.

I then extracted the zip file and attempted to import the non-zipped portion into the Android box, using the "File Manager" to copy it to where I wanted it to be. This worked - sort of... The file was copied to the proper location but when I tried to open it, I received another message telling me that none of the links were valid.

I then copied everything from the Super Favourites folders on my PC to the Kodi "Favourites" folder, did a complete, fresh back-up and then installed this fresh back-up into the Android. The thumbnails for each folder arrived - but the links to these favourites didn't...

I'm beginning to think that the problem is with the back-up program (Kodi's "Backup")... Could I be right, and if so can you suggest another way to back-up and move the PC set-up to the Android??

Have you tried adblink? It's awesome. http://jocala.com

I checked it out and it appears that this needs to be installed as a fresh install - - and I really don't want to start doing my build all over again. Perhaps I'm misreading the information on their web site??

Per your question asking if there were other ways to backup and restore that's what this does. It doesn't affect your build at all.

After many hours, I finally got the back-up - - the complete back-up - - to load into my Android device from my PC.

For anybody else finding similar difficulties, here's a brief synopsis of how I finally succeeded:
1) after creating 9 different back-ups, always using Kodi's Backup, always ensuring all items that could be backed up were ticked "yes" in Backup's settings, I finally discovered that Backup was not keeping the settings but was turning off "addon_data" in the "userdata" folder while the back-up was taking place.

2) I located all the original files from Kodi on my "C" drive (users/myname/AppData/Roaming/Kodi

3) I copied all the files into a new folder on a USB stick (Kodi/the date/the files)

4) I went to the Android box, cleaned out the memory and then did a restore (after first ensuring that all the boxes (noted in item #1, above), were activated.

5) everything - - all my settings - - all my favourites - - arrived as I had expected they would - many days ago.

Thanks to all who offered their input and help. Much appreciated

Good to hear Smile

Sounds a bit odd for a backup program Sad

"Professional" was a spellcheck error. My apologies and thank you for your time. I like the addon even with the present limitation.

Think I've fixed this now, but want to test it out before releasing as there have been quite a few changes.

Should be released next week hopefully Smile

If you want to give it a try I've uploaded it to DropBox:

Hi,

SF is definietely awesome.
There is one thing that doesn't seem to work, though.
As long as I add photo folders to SF, I can browse those folders and view my photos.
When I add a specific .jpg file to SF I cannot open it.
(Video files can be added and played just fine.)

This is what I get when trying to open the .jpg file.

Is there a way to add single photos as superfavourites?
I know I can add them to Kodi favourites and browse them through SF, not something I'd like to do, though.

Hope you can help.
Thanks
Stefan

Can you let me know how you are adding the jpgs to SF and also to Kodi Favourites and I'll take a look.

I'm planning a release for next week so it would be good if I could get this in too Smile

thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

here is how I do it:
I navigate to the standard Pictures item in the Kodi main menu, which is directly mapped to my source for Photos (nfs://nas/Media5/Photos).
In my source I have several folders with pictures.
../Photos/album1
../Photos/album2
etc.
I navigate to ../Photos/album1 and see all my pictures.
I navigate to "brother.jpg" and bring up the context menu "Super Favourites"
Then I go to Add to Superfavourites. I select the folder I want to put it in and hit "OK".
I can actually see an icon of the picture I added in the SF folder I added it to.
But when I click on it nothing happens and I get the log message posted above.
I hope this description helps. I can also post screenshots if you need me to.
thanks :-)

Right, think this should do the trick:

Not an official release yet, hence the DropBox link.

Let me know how you get on.

Hello,

1) within the settings I activated "Super Folders inherit thumbnail and fanart". For some video-addons this works, for others it doesn't work and I have to assign manually the fanart. But having a look at the structure of the different addons, I can't see any difference between them. Is this behaviour normal?

2) "Show fanart" in "Artwork settings" shows no effect, no matter if enabled or disabled. I assumed that this is an option to globally switch on/off all fanarts?

Hi, Spoyser,

Loving SF, just started using it works great in Krypton using Aeon Now. But I'm having a problem like some others I see.

If setup a widget on the home screen over Movies or TV show menus. When I add a movie to the SF folder I created for each one, then go back and highlight the movie or show I added, I'm only getting the SF background image. In Krypton I get the movies fanart image when highlighted, in Jarvis I'm not.

Is there something I need to add or change to get this to work?

Update: I just tried deleting the super favorite background fanart.jpg within the plugin and replaced it with a different jpg image and the super favorites background image still shows.

I looked everywhere and can't seem to find the SF background image to replace.

Update: Ok I figured out how to change the image in the background widget to a default image. Now have to figure out have to show the movie's fanart in the background when I highlight them.

Thanks
