Thanks Matt and everyone. I decided to run your script and make sure my coreboot was up to date, so I ran option 5.

Then, I loaded up the latest version of OpenElec via USB successfully. It boots to Openelec in moments now flawlessly.

Sadly -- I still have the HDMI audio issue. My Chromebox is passing video just fine, but no matter which Audio Device I select for output, it does not seem to want to pass HDMI audio. I tried two different cables on two different receivers / TV's with no luck.

Any users in here with advice, much appreciated.

I assume you have configured the audio output device and its capabilities via XBMC's settings? You may need/want to change the settings level to advanced or expert.

Yep, I sure did. In XBMC settings under System - Audio Output, I can't find a single combination of settings that lets me output HDMI audio properly.

I know a lot of you are using your Chromebox + OpenElec, so I wonder if there is some Audio Output settings / device combo I'm missing...but I can't seem to find it.

Could you be more specific about your settings, please? I have passthrough working perfectly, and would be glad to try and help but I need to know that you have set your machine up correctly. In addition, what type of receiver are you running? What is your setup (hdmi-receiver-tv)? The box most certainly supports passthrough as does the latest version of Openelec.
