Bug Duplicate music artists under one song for XBMC and Kodi
#61
Thanks. I am facing the same issue. Is there a way in advancedsettings to disable Kodi reading any MBIDs from the tags? I believe this is the main issue and leads to duplicate display of albumartists and artists with the same name. Thanks in advance!

I think not, so if this field can be processed as Library DB field, then count me in :-)

For ID3v2, Kodi reads TPE1 (artist) and TPE2 (album artist). Will also read TXXX:ALBUM ARTIST and TXXX:ALBUMARTIST.

That's a pity. Any chance for Kodi to support fields "artists" and "albumartists" as library DB field. As mhdebokx writes, this would be brilliant. Please see below how it works:

Artist: Chakuza & RAF Camora
Artist Sort Order: Chakuza & RAF Camora
Artists: Chakuza/RAF Camora

Album Artist: Chakuza & RAF Camora feat. Joshi Mizu
Album Artist Sort Order: Chakuza & RAF Camora feat. Joshi Mizu
Artists: Chakuza/RAF Camora/Joshi Mizu

MusicBrainz Artist Id: 40e7505a-4c30-4ac7-84d3-2a9aef92cc44/a5386648-7b2c-4e0a-8094-ac5d16b91e54
MusicBrainz Release Artist Id: 40e7505a-4c30-4ac7-84d3-2a9aef92cc44/a5386648-7b2c-4e0a-8094-ac5d16b91e54/bfd18afb-3889-4860-8587-e4b742a56167

Any chance to see this being implemented into Kodi?

Should I open a new ticket or can we reopen the one I already created earlier?

In my point of view, yes. When there is more that 1 artist or the scraper process or the handling in Kodi is not correct. The artist info is shown twice. With as result that the "Artist Slideshow " is not working correctly.

Using MusicBrains all artist and album information is shared and should be consistent. But... within Kodi music-database it is not possible anymore to create your own sets or collectiom from the standard ID3v2 tags, because MB filled everything with consistent data. Eg. when playing the Buddha-Bar series, the album artist has differen 4 artist and even 1 Various Artists. There fore I suggest new Feature Request for Kodi. Please implement 1 ID3v2 tag that users can fill with their own needs (like creating series), put this tag in de MusicDB on the album level, and make ik accessable in the library views within Kode (like Artist, Album or Genre).

Any input from one of the devs on the forum or ticket would be nice.

When this is being implemented, it would be great to implement support for "artists" (with an "S") tag at the same time. The issue is somewhat related. Thanks!!!

That is exactly what I've been saying all along. Wink

There are still two different points to address ;-) You will like to see this thread over at Picard that indicates that someone is looking into this. But unfortunately, I have not succeeded to find the kodi developers posting in the MBZ thread. http://tickets.musicbrainz.org/browse/PICARD-586

Chris Roberts in that Picard ticket is Team member night199uk, he's not been active recently so I've added him to the Kodi trac ticket that has been raised to see if he has the time to take a look.

Thanks again. Anyone knows whether night199uk has accepted to look into this issue. Actually, he had offered to eventually look into support for "artists" / "albumartists" tags (pls note the "S"). However, the issue reported in this thread is related, but not the same.

In any case, any response from night199uk or anyone else who could look into this bug?

Sorry for pushing this up again. As you can see on http://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/15761 this is quite a fundamental issue and hope for a fix. Thanks!!!
