Hi, I have 5 PCs and 1 Pi all in Frodo. looking to upgrade to Gotham but intend to keep MySQL 5.5 since 5.5 installation and footprint seems simpler than 5.6. So my question is do I need 5.6 for Gotham? If I can getaway with 5.5 will I be losing any major feature?
I did a search both in forum and in Google and I don't see this question answered anywhere.
thanks in advance.

Out of curiosity, what do you mean by "simpler"?
From a user's perspective it's identical to 5.5. I haven't checked the memory footprint, but I can't imagine it's too far off from 5.5 either.
I've read performance improvements in 5.6 which may (or may not be of benefit).
Eitherway, I upgraded from 5.5 to 5.6 a couple of weeks ago, and all's well. MySQL is being used for XBMC and Apache in my case.

I installed 5.6 a while back and the installation was very different from 5.5. If I remember correctly i think there was more than one service. I rolled back to 5.5 after that and never looked back.
