I am looking for a keymap program (or instructions on how to do this in my keyboard.xml file) that will allow me to map button presses to CTRL or ALT keys. Basically, I need to use my remote control to sent a CTRL-W or ALT-F4 to close a firefox browser window when I am done using it. If there is another way to do this other than with ctrl or alt keys, I'd like to know how.
Thanks!

You should probably look at EventGhost or LMRemoteKeyMap, at least assuming your on Windows. Since it sounds like Firefox will be the front most window when you hit the remote, I don't think there's anything you can do within XBMC, as XBMC will only respond to remote requests if it's the front most window (at least I think that's the case).

For MCE remotes you can try my MCE remote mapper tool.
