Release YouTube (IMPORTANT - READ FIRST POST)
(2015-03-02, 09:25)xbmcwayist Wrote: Oh, and what about on Gotham? Can I just remove the old YouTube addon and the forwarder and everything will work with Bromix's YouTube?
I think it's best to remove both Youtube addons and the forwarder, then from the Bromix repository install the latest addon.

Some of that is because Bromix is doing things according to the API and th API doesn't do everything that a 'hack' might do - but IMHO that is a good thing, API stuff should continue to work, hacks die.

I have been on this thread for a while now and can definitely see the differences. I was mostly curious if due to the now default status of Bromix's YouTube addon, will all addons which use YouTube now use Bromix's YouTube just as they once did with the older YouTube addon. Previously, the YouTube forwarder would enable all addons to direct their YouTube queries/use to Bromix's YouTube rather than the older, formerly default, YouTube addon.

For now I support the old calls/urls of the other addon, so older addons which require YouTube will work. But starting with KODI 15.X I will start to drop this support, because the old url-calls are a pain. URIs are so much powerfull, but the old calling-conventions doesn't make any use of it Sad
Some videos I can't play - restricted.

Confirmed, i have the same issue on 90% of the videos in my playlist. Sad
Using plugin v5.01

Can you please give me some examples (video id) to work with Wink so I can take a look at it and maybe fix it (if possible)

Here.s one link, it's the Gesaffelstein video:
http://youtu.be/oRSijEW_cDM

And the message is "This video contains content from WMG.It is restricted..."

Errorlog says:
Quote:20:43:32 T:1432 ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=oRSijEW_cDM]

Here's a screenshot:

I've had a reoccurring problem with slow caching during peek hours, discovered that I was hitting 173.194.134.0/24 as cache server with Kodi and this plugin, but chrome browser is hitting 173.194.54.0/24 instead. Blocking the first set at router level fixed the issue by redirecting me to a range in Mountain View with great speeds.

Is this the right place to report this? Is the cache server preference influenced by the region setting? Please educate me, I'm in uncharted territory.
Vevo videos on youtube stopped working a couple of weeks ago. They all say restricted and please go to youtube to view.

Sample Log entries:

ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=BPgEgaPk62M]
ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [plugin://plugin.video.youtube/play/?video_id=g5qU7p7yOY8]

etc..

All other plugins calling your youtube plugin that are sourced from Vevo come up with the same problem. There was one other site source in youtube that came up with the same error, but I can't remember what I was looking at from youtube to get it to come up.

(you asked for video IDs).

debug log (wiki) please...I have to see the complete system in your case (because of vevo)...for me it's running fine, but I have to see which version of KODI, Python and the addon is running.

Not a problem of the addon...the addon only provides the URL....the DNS stuff is doing your system+router+internet provider...you can't compare the browser with kodi....2 complete different implementations are running to resolve the URL.

Sorry, reading some of the previous comments about the version of youtube plugin I took a look and found it was stuck on 5.0.3. Looks like some of the other video plugins dependencies may have caused it to get stuck. Downloading the plugin direct from the download site and installed via Addons.

Both videos that were unplayable previously now work. I did a quick youtube search, and haven't found a Vevo video yet that isn't now working. Sorry for the false alarm. - Matt.

Okay...found the bug... Sad I use the call of YouTube TV for updating the History...it isn't working for YouTube TV and therefore also not for the addon. I hope they will fix this...because here is nothing a can do Sad
