Have a look at all the big companies and well known logos. How many of them incorporate what they do into that logo? Very few. Google, eBay, Sony, Samsung, IBM, McDonalds, Audi, Mercedes, Nike, adidas, Nestle, etc, etc., have logos that you recognise but essentially are nothing to do with their line of business.
That aside there are 1 or 2 well designed logos here.
I completely disagree, I will give you the credit that a wordmark type of logo is extremely popular, especially amongst the top brands, but there is more than just one style of logo and the artists on the forum are able to interpret their logo concept in whichever style they feel works best for them.
Companies such as Jaguar, Puma, Taco Bell, AT&T, Pizza Hut and Windows, all use a symbol in their logo that relates to the name/what they're about. But look at Logitechs logo, it is a stange abstract eye symbol.... it is neither a combination mark or wordmark, but it works and we all know it. To say that Combination Mark logos are redundant is arrogant. At the end of the day a logo is a logo, it either looks right for the company or it doesn't.
