Win Error: unable to create application. Exiting
#16
Still the same; took two goes to actually run, second time produced the failed to start device error. I noticed the passthrough settting use directsound; should that be changed as well? The logfile still refers to trying to open directsound:default.

As you and martin.klein have "the same" problem, try what he did.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

It needs more than 12 seconds to gather the modelines from your Monitor. Can you say something about your setup? What screen is connected to the GPU? Any chance you can update the GPU drivers from nvidia.com?

Now I updated the Grahics Driver for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 Graphics card. Via HDMI a Huge Flatscreen TV is connected.
But startup still needs the 20-30 seconds.

PS: Its fine for me now. But if I can help others let me know what else you need.

I still have the code: https://github.com/fritsch/xbmc/commits/...-wait-long - let's see if I can build one through jenkins.

Problem is, that our gotham builder does not seem to build anymore, therefore I need to have a look on howto increase the time in recent architecture which has changed.

Edit: I have started another testbuild, that will be available at the usual location: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win32/ (in hopefully 30 minutes).

Please try this: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win3...crease.exe

and also prepare logfiles.

Thanks for the trial version; that does work; at least it comes up, I haven't had a chance to try it yet - it takes around 30 seconds.

The start up log is at http://paste.ubuntu.com/9056320/
