Win Error: unable to create application. Exiting

(2014-11-17, 09:33)fritsch Wrote: Please try this: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win3...crease.exe

and also prepare logfiles.
The first test build you posted worked 100% of the time.. however the latest version you have posted works only maybe 20% of the times i try to open kodi. i noticed you decreased the wait time from your last build... you had it set to 60 seconds and now it is 30 seconds... could you go back to 60? or at least maybe 45 seconds would work better for my slooow system...

also, why haven't you submitted this as a pull request for the upcoming Helix release? its only a one line code change that has kodi working for me... and without it i was unable to upgrade to Gotham (or Helix).

thanks

I had this same problem and the only thing that worked was one suggestion I read about deleting my add on database.

Guys I'm getting the same problem. I have no clue why. I just booted up my computer and it's giving me this error. It was working fine yesterday, and I haven't had any problems with it.

My Specs. Windows 8.1
Kodi RC3
2 Nvidia 580's using GeForce Drivers 344.11
Sound - HDMI through to receiver
Ivy Bridge 3770K.

Everytime it launches I get the error message "Can't create application"

Here is my kodi.log

Your sound card needs longer than 5 seconds to init:

Currently no Audio Dev is using Windows 8.x (yeah that's the truth) ... we don't know what is going wrong internally for now.

It needs fixing though.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. XBMC 13.2 and previous worked fine. I completely uninstalled XBMC and installed Kodi Helix. I received the unable to create application error after a 15+ second delay when I tried to start Kodi. I have rebooted, uninstalled, and reinstalled Kodi and the problem remains. I uninstalled Kodi and reinstalled XBMC 13.2 and it is working fine. I am running a single AMD 7800 series graphics card with the current video driver (Catalyst 13.12) for that card. I could not locate any error logs in either the Kodi directory structure or the user directory structure. Thank-you for your assistance troubleshooting this issue.

I have the same error on a clean install of kodi.

Intel NUC with whatever graphics. I copied a log to here:

Any suggestions? There seems to be a problem with my monitor, bvut nothing has changed since I uninstalled XBMC Gotham (which ran fine)

It tells us, that there is no monitor connected that has any usable modes. and is different from the issues the others are seeing.

Hmm. Same monitor as I mentioned before (Vizio TV via HDMI from the NUC).

Totally reproducible every time, and no delays, it's an instant fail.

Not sure if there's anything else I can supply...

(2014-11-17, 08:29)fritsch Wrote: Problem is, that our gotham builder does not seem to build anymore, therefore I need to have a look on howto increase the time in recent architecture which has changed.

Edit: I have started another testbuild, that will be available at the usual location: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win32/ (in hopefully 30 minutes).

@fritsch: Any chance you can apply this patch to the newly released final version of kodi? And could you use the 30 second delay again? ... my PC is slow and sometimes it would still fail to start Kodi when using the latest build you uploaded.

If you don't have the time maybe you could point me in the right direction on how I could build it myself? I'm familiar with Git / branching / pulling...

Thanks,

Currently building, will be Helix branch (14.1-rc1 with such a patch), see the usual location for when it's done: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win32/

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win3...crease.exe (might still need some time until mirrors are synced)

Hi,

please post a Debug Log with that new version - where we can see the startup of xbmc. (Means: Enable debug logging, Enable Component logging and enable AUDIO component). Thx much.

Please capture the log with: http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win3...crease.exe that will produce additional logging and we can see what goes wrong.
