Hello

I'm new to using Kodi

I had installed Xbmc 12.3 and everything worked well. Right now I have installed the latest available version of Kodi (stable), but when I started for the first time i got this message (Error: unable to create application. Exiting).
I looked at the kodi.log and here what it says, please help!

Please read two posts back ... I posted a special build for those affected.

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1880297 <- this one, needs testing and the logfile is required.

I need this logfile. Without it - this cannot be fixed with version 14.1

Hi.
I tried to install all Kodi builds - RC14.0,Kodi 14.0 stable, and now RC14.1 (KodiSetup-20150104-7422b18-Helix.exe) and always on the first run I get an error "Unable to create application. Exiting". My debug log is here: http://pastebin.com/VtESNZtC
P.S. All previous XBMC builds worked ok.

Hi fritsch..

I just wanted to let you know that i has this problem too. The AudioEngine failed to start using WASAPI HDMI output on a Windows 2008 R2 server (Kodi 14.0). The error only shows when Kodi is lauching from boot (it's shortcut is placed in the startup folder). When i start it manually after boot, it works fine.

I downloaded this version:
http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1880297

And it fixed the problem. Will this be fixed in future releases?

Oh, i previously had XBMC version, these worked fine. After updating to Kodi, the error started.

No, it won't - I will provide a 14.1 build with this patch applied. We currently have no idea why audio engine needs more than 30 seconds to start and adding such a large timeout is a risk when we have a "real failure". So after 14.1 I will make another build here in this thread.

http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/win3...crease.exe <- Here is a new build with latest Helix 14.1 patches - I think this should roughly be 14.1 - but the tag is not yet in.

Any word on if this fix has been committed to and included in the recent nightlies?

Not and it won't.

So basically we won't be able to upgrade to newer versions unless you add your fix to it?
