Microsoft High Definition AV pack no longer available? - Xbox Component Cables?
You need to switch to NTSC.
For this you'll need to use the soft "Enigmah"

With some search you should find good tutorials to do this.

Regards,

Eric
Thanks Eric!

I went through a few threads last night and I got the same suggestion, couldn't find the Enighma thing, but I think I just got lucky and found the PAL/NTSC selector on megagames dot com, uhuu, trying it tonight Big Grin
Thumbs Up
Just switch to NTSC using the Enigmah PAL/NTSC Selector CD v2.0 and WOW, never thought that my old box could do that! Eek It's like I got a new pair of eyes man Big Grin Text's are so sharp now, movies looks so great in 720p, vivid colors with only around 35% CPU, unbielivable... Thanks for your help guys and last, but not least thanks to XBMC team, great job guys! Working on a XBMC remote application in .Net, hoping to finish in the next couple of months.
Bought this non-MS cable and works great:

If like me you have a Plasma/LCD Tv then you'll no doubt be wanting to use the Xboxes HD output. But laying your hands on a component cable is nigh onimpossible M$ stop making them years ago, third party cables (still hard to get now the 360 out) have differing results. I just taken delivery of a "XCM Multi-Consoles Component Cable V3" & it's the dogs.Wink

Hope this helps anybody else searching for one, just Google the text inside the quotes.
I bought an original high def cable pack just recently (japanese in origin but it's still original equipment) and it works well - decent quality too!

If anyones interested i bought it from here

Yeah, i got the xcm v3 cable too, hd 1080i's working great on my tv, streaming dvd iso straight from xbmc. however, i guess i'll need to add a s/pdif and optical port to the xbox, cos it only provided a stereo white+red cable. it puzzles me though, cos they listed:

* Fully Compatible with Xbox 360™, Wii™, PS3™/PS2™, PSP™ Slim & Lite and Xbox™
* Built in switch prevents interference of other consoles
* High quality shielded cable
* Support Component Signal (Stereo Function)
* High Quality and High Speed for Transfer Signal
* Supports Dolby Prologic
* Supports DTS 5.1 Channel System
* Supports DOLBY Digital and Surround Sound
* Supports Stereo Sound
* Support Optical Signal on Xbox 360™
* Compatible with Surround Receiver or Integrated Amplifier
* Supports CRT, Plasma, LCD or any HDTV System
* Supports D2 (480i/480p); (720i/720p) & D4 (1080i/1080p) technology.

doesn't support for dts means that a digital output is meant to be included? or did they convert one of the white/red cable to a digital output?

Nerd
Anyone have any luck finding one recently in 2008?

Dan Dare Wrote:I got the Monster Gamelink 400X from eBay (having them shipped from US the shipping was more than the cables...) and the fonts are cleaner and the colors seem more vivid than the standard Euroscart connection, even in standard 720x576 PAL 16:9. I can't seem to get tghe HDTV resultions in MS Dashboard Video settings, only Normal, Letterbox and Widescreen, any help on that would be appreciated.

Did you figure this issue out?
Which Item "Did you figure this issue out?" did you buy and from which seller / store?
What hacks & s/w & settings are working for you now?

I have an NTSC Xbox XBMC (3 of them), but I might have to feed some to PAL and some to NTSC LCD TVs. Some HD: 1080p and some half HD - 720p.

fireblade Wrote:Hi,

I brought a XBOX HD A/V pack (clone) from eBay and the unit's digital audio stopped working after a few days usage? Rolleyes

I found two regular sellers of these units called "sudoku2" and "gameinfinity". I brought off gameinifinity.

Given the price and simplicity of the unit I didn't bother try to get a replacement unit or get a refund.

I thought the TOS SPDIF led was a bit dull so opened up the case, removed the TOTX178a replica (cheap clone by SUN, made in China), found a replacement part manufactured in the US I believe and soldered it place of the removed SUN TOS / SPDIF unit (just 3 joints to de-solder / solder) Cool

The unit has worked beautifully since.

Sudoku has a store:
http://stores.ebay.com/Cool-Game-Gears
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsudoku2

GameInfinity does not:
http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZgameinfinity

I thought this might help the next guy who wants the XBOX v1 HDTV with 5.1 surround sound experience.

I also found these helpful:

Fireblade

Are these still available and working?

Any of these in the US of A?

Don Tom Wrote:Most people would *kill* to find the MS original cables (including me). So where did you find them?

I would definitly go with the MS one's, since I have them with my first Xbox set, and the quality is superb.

Where can I find them now.. Any luck, direction folks?

Hey crashnburn,

I got the Monster 400X cable from eBay, you can buy it from Monstercable.com for 50$ or simply search for it on eBay.
http://www.monstercable.com/monstergame/xbox_cables.asp

My box is PAL and I had to use the Enigmah app to switch it to NTSC to be able to select the 720p mode from the settings inside Microsoft Dashboard. My Samsung 32" seems to be able to handle PAL as well as NTSC although I couldn't find any specific reference in the manual, I just tried it and it worked.

If you're boxes are already NTSC you will get the option for HD resolutions in Microsoft Dashboard when you connect the component cables.

I just ordered the Monster cable the other day and after doing much research it seems to be the best one to get depending where you live (Australia here) The cheaper ones from what i read also give very good results but it can be a hit and miss. All in the all the cable performs very well and the image within XBMC is incrediable.

I agree with Mobil_hrt01, if you decide to save a buck or two and it works - great. you won't regret either if you spend some money on a good name company cable, XBMC will look so much better on your LCD screen.

dont know if they ship elsewhere.
