Solved Searching for TV series with non alpha-numeric characters
#1
Hi,

When I do a default search for a few series, the following do not match - however, they are entered correctly.
I'm assuming there's some sort of character stripping?
  • Battlestar Galactica (2003)
  • Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
  • Star Trek: Enterprise
  • Star Trek: The Next Generation
  • Star Trek: Voyager
  • Will & Grace

Removing the brackets or colons allows the search to work, but the result shows the originally searched item, including the characters.

unfortunately the search of tvdb s****.
Their search algorithm is pretty weak (I've already started a feature request, but they are not willing to change that). We already strip out some special characters from the search, but we cannot say exactly which characters work and which not Sad

We could remove some more, but that is dangerous (maybe some other searches won't find any result due to missing characters...). Since you found a workaround and this manual steps are minimal, I suppose we will not change this.
I hope you can understand our point of view..
