I've received my new Fire TV in the UK today, enabled developer access and installed the latest 13.2 Gotham apk (xbmc-13.2-Gotham-armeabi-v7a.apk) via adb.

ADB says the installation is successful, but when I launch xbmc from the apps list (within settings) on the FireTV it appears to crash.

It seems to start okay, "Preparing for first run. Please wait", but then 'crashes' back to the app list.

Is this a common issue with a known solution?

If it's important I believe the UK Fire TVs have the newest firmware pre-installed, which is 51.1.4.0_user_514005520

Did you try Kodi 14.0 aka Helix ? So, an alpha release ? I got the FireTV specially for running XBMC.

This firmware didn't show up here in Holland, looks like also not in the US.

Tried the latest Kodi nightly (http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/androi...bi-v7a.apk). That did exactly the same thing.

It looks like the initial setup works, then the first launch fails.

The logcat entries for all my attempts to launch xbmc say much the same thing:

I can confirm that the exact same things happens here. Got my UK box today too. I have tried a couple of different versions and appears to crash each time ... hmm Sad

Hmm, not a good sign for the rest of us with FTV's.

Suggestion... can you guys try sideloading SPMC instead (APK here).

Ok just tried the SPMC and the same thing happens ... Appears to launch then closes ...

Firmware Version is 51.1.4.0_user_514005520

Have you enabled both ADB Debugging and Unknown Sources under Settings?

Got my box from amazon today too

Installed xbmc and it works fine for me - well happy

Even heavy skins seem ok so far

Ive got the later firmware version though I think - not sure if thats it

I have that one and cannot get xbmc/spmc working, could you help me out and let me know which version of xbmc you used to get it working?

anything else you did different to the usual adb instructions?

All version of XBMC/SPMC working for me.

Fire TV updated to 51.1.4.0_user_514006420.
