or give an option in setting window to control if I want to see this window on errors by checking box.

I'm explain why I need this.

lot of video addons give lot of sources for movie and start automatically to play it.
now addon try to play first and if this source not working addon try second...third and it stop by this window.

if I can to disable this window, addon will try to play all sources until find working one.

I'd say, check that the source links provide are working. Which addon is it we're talking about?

This message not specific to an addon. It will show up if xbmc fail to play more than three time when asked to play something. A few months ago, someone also requested to suppress this window or provide some control. I dont know what happen to that request. It will be great if some control is provided if xbmc fail to play something.

I fail to see the logic to why to suppress the dialog. The item failed to play it's that simple. So fix the reasons it failed to play to begin with. Suppressing that message will only cause questions as to way actually happens and the addon doesn't seem to react in the eyes of the user

there is an option to play movie automatically.
addon try the first source and go on checking all sources until find working one.

I explain why.
most reason is when we use streaming sources and not local files.
I can't fix streaming sources when i get from addon 100 sources for movie and addon try to find automatically working source and play.
now because this error message it's stop after 3 tries. and i need to go addon setting to disable autoplay and choose again movie...see all window sources... and choose one and another and another...handley. why? when xbmc can check all sorces for me and play the movie with one click?

addon can't check more 97 sources... one of them must working...

see for example genesis addon.

as i wrote, if you don't to suppress the dialog , give an option disable it.
so everyone will by happy.

But this situation could happened with no piracy addon as you call it.... (genesis was only example it can happend in youtube. youtube is not piracy. youtube plugin can download from official xbmc repo),
So I don't understand why you ignore this option without think for simple user experience in xbmc?
make it working by default but make option to disable it too if user want.

for example youtube plugin.
youtube is not piracy.

I have lot of m3u playlist format I play with xbmc. this playlist include youtube links.
After 3 errors this playlist stop working (because youtube sometime delete links...) ...why?
why not xbmc ignore errors and play next links on this m3u list?

And before you ask - no XBMC can't detect if the addon opening the stream will try a different source after the error. We just can't distinguish between single source or multi source streams because those are completely handled outside in an addon in your case.

ok I agree.
Don't disable it.
Make it working by default.

But give users that don't want to see this massage option to disable it so missing streaming files in playlist will not stop playlist playing.
(or filed to write numbers of error this massage will appear. not 3 errors by default but for example I write 1000 , so I can play links from youtube playlist without stop by errors.
or give 5 sec popup notification for errors and go next link , but don't stop playing playlist after 3 errors.

This is very annoying and harms xbmc user experience.

99.8% of user don't go to log to see errors...they don't know how to read this log and what writing there...

everybody will be satisfied.

Not my area. We harm user experience. Users using those addons which rely on sources which are known to vanish/invalidate often harms our reputation. I think we are even.

I'd think it would be possible for an add-on to test a URL to see if it's even a valid link before actually attempting to play it. I would mention this to whoever is making the add-on you are using.

No because notification only lasts X seconds and in case of playlist user may not be looking at the scree when it fails. Then by the time he looks the notification would be gone and clueless to what happened

Despite I don't need this at all (so no +1 from me) and this is benefical mainly for unstable sources/piracy addons (otherwise the streams would be stable/not removed) I can see a valid point in this suggestion.

This problably won't fit in xbmc/xbmc settings (since it will be enabled forever) but as an option on the python api (xbmc module / player class / play function). An option for the addon developer to tell xbmc if he want's that dialog to appear if playback has failed wouldn't be bad. Defining this parameter as a function would also allow the developer to catch the onplaybackfailed event and run a function in that case. This is something I miss in xbmc and that makes coding a bit hard sometimes. There aren't many player event's a addon can grab.

However, as stated on the first line of this post I don't need this.
