Sumvision Cyclone X4
#1
I have used and configured many Sumvision Cyclone X2's in the past, and these have worked great with XBMC, basically being a clone of the Geniatech ATV1200. Now Sumvision have released what appears to be its sucessor, the Cyclone X4

http://sumvision.com/?p=product&id=549

It has the following spec

CPU: AMlogic S805 quad core A5 1.5 Ghz
GPU: Quad core Mali 450
RAM: 1GB DDR 3
Storage: 8GB
Input: 2 X USB port, 1 x MIcro SD/SDHC slot
Wi-Fi: 802.11 b/g/n 150 mbps
LAN: Rj45 / ethernet
Video output: HDMI 1.4 up to 1080p
Android: 4.4
Video: H.265, MKV, XVID, MOV, M2TS, MP4, RMVB and many more
Audio: WMA, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AAC, True HD, and many more
Pictures: JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, and HD HJPEG
Subtitles: SRT, SMT, SUB, SSA, IDX and USB

Is this GPU compatible with XBMC, also does anyone know if this box is rooted like the X2 was.

Cheers

OK I never worded it very well. Is the GPU capable of decoding hd video in xbmc. This is not necessarily the case just because a vendor claims a device is XBMC compatible.

I was getting the X2's from 7dayshop for 40 quid. But they are no longer stocking them and have these X4's instead. Still only 50 quid so not a bad deal if they work as well as the X2's have but with the added benefit of quad core.

I just popped out and bought one from CCL, comes with XBMC already installed.

Does anyone need any info from it or me to test anything?

Can you check if it's rooted. Cheers

Also does it stream 1080p content no problem in xbmc?

No, it doesn't appear to be Rooted. Is it worth looking into if it can be?

Apologies for jumping into this thread but I've recently bought the X4 but I think mines faulty. I plugged it all in and the only output I see on the TV is the Sumvision logo. I've tried the power button on the remote but its unresponsive. Only once did it boot fully (moving dots under the logo) into their launcher and then only to freeze 2 - 3 mins later.

Is this an issue you've discovered with your boxes or is it just mine?

Thanks!

Ask on the manufacturer forum. This is not a xbmc or kodi issue.

Sorry to hear that, mine has been great so far and not seen anything like that.

I am considering one of the small keyboard/mouse/remotes to replace the supplied one and better compliment Kodi, am I right in saying they come with a USB dongle and just plug and play?
