Kodi Beta 1 bight areas of screen flicker on playback
#31
Opened PR 6069: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/6069. This seems to cure it for me. Would be nice if those who have this issue could test it as well. Here is a precompiled binary with this PR: http://subvoice.hu/xbmc/Kodi.exe

This is not a full installer. Just install the official 14.0 and replace Kodi.exe in the installation folder with the .exe above (make a backup of the original .exe so you can revert back easier).

The .exe above also contains two additional changes: https://github.com/a11599/xbmc/commit/0f...a182420482 and https://github.com/a11599/xbmc/commit/9d...2548a39d17. Otherwise it is identical to 14.0 and will not mess with your library or database so a backup of your userdata is not required.

I'm having the flickering issue with a nvidia gfx card. Is there any chance this fix will remedy my problem anyway?

Yes, it can, it is not AMD specific but the issue was only reported on AMD cards so far. Give it a try.

Note, that you can have flickering for lots of reasons. Please also check your GPU video settings in nV control panel, there are usually enhancements for color/contrast which can result in flickering.

Came across this thread after noticing a bit of flickering on my set after upgrading to Kodi. The suggested fixes seem to have worked, but curious if the fix was added to 14.1 so I'm not chopping up my installation left and right.

Yes the fix has now been merged into the Helix branch so should be in the 14.1 test builds, see http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=213108 for where to find these.

I notice something, in frodo, gotham,an helix (14.0 &14.1 testing) with my old radeon 4200, the video in the background at 24hz, Video Clock(Drop/Dupe Audio) and DXVA Render, always has stutter, only with the version a11599's, there is no stuttering in the background.

Sorry for my english.

Hello
I also have this flickering issue in hardware decoding method. It started after upgrading to Kodi 14.0, but no luck after updating to 14.1 January 5th and now 14.1 January 12th releases.
I made a fresh clean install of Kodi from scratch and also a fresh clean install of the AMD drivers (14.12)
Tried the a11599 fix but no luck.
Using software decoding method fixed the problem.
Any help appreciated.

Other specs should be on signature.

Thx in advance.

The stutter only occur with video in background, a11599 fix is working great,
but with Helix 14.x test has stutter in background.
a11599 fix has something diferent than 14.x ?

Thanks guys. Appreciate the help.
