Thanks for explaining.

I think in your theme you can forget about the blurred background. You can start with a fresh screen. Never mind the current background. You can then do whatever you want (within reason of course Big Grin ).

The playlist file should an .xml or .m3u is there a way to read what's inside the file and base the queuing on that?

I will look into this.

I have checked and how the smart lists look like (*.xsp).

This is one for example:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="movies">
<name>All movies</name>
<match>all</match>
<rule field="title" operator="contains">
<value>Lucy</value>
</rule>
</smartplaylist>

And another one:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<smartplaylist type="songs">
<name>Cher</name>
<match>all</match>
<rule field="title" operator="is">
<value>Track 1</value>
</rule>
</smartplaylist>

As you can see, I can't do much with this without creating the logic myself into the app.

this is what I meant not as much blur and not as dark

no blur

Image

with blur but not to much of it so you can still make it out

which do you all thinks looks best

I think for this the no blur is better because it's part of the view.
In my opinion you're using a blur to make it not part of your own view. To hide other screens and to focus on the current view.

Me and the wife agree lol looks better without the blur looks more crisp the whole screen. But has to be very dark as it would confuse you when looking at other things.

For that you will have a transparency factor you can experiment with.
The Go Pro screen shot above has a transparency of 60%.

Question about the Artist sorting function. Will it be possible to sort using the Albumartist tag? I guess XBMC Commander did it that way. Anyone who can explain?

You will be able to sort on Artists, Albums, Year and Genres.

I have added small buttons to the top menu bar. You can have up to 12 of them:

Richard,

I think the question was about being able to sort on the Album Artist tag, which is different from the Artist tag. I have the same question, as I have a lot (hundreds) of compilation albums to which I assign one Album Artist, even though there are different Artists for the different tracks in the album. Please let me know. Thanks.

Regards,

Bart

Richard,

Great question, I do not have enough knowledge of the JSON API or how KODI populates the database fields when an album is scraped to know if "artist" in your list above is the albumartist or not. My best test will be to try the sorting by artist when you release the version that has this. Sorry I cannot be of more help at this time.

Regards,

Bart

Bart, same for the compilation albums. That's why I asked. I don't know which item is needed. It'll be trial and error I think unless someone else knows which one to use.
