I tried 3 times (2014-11-14 nightly build), it worked. but when open KIDI by "MENU" key, sometimes apple remote lose the control of system. may be the system is too lag? because it showed that web server failed to load and the weather information displayed very late.

If you describe the exact sequence from boot we can try to help.

Works well without issues as long as you do not start kodi automatically at login or wait a few seconds if starting with menu button. Is working for a few of us.

Did you disable "start with menu" and then re-enable "start from menu" ?

Try very latest nightly (but kill xbmchelper before installing is my advice)
You could also try candelair (not necessary but some report success with it).
Check iTunes is not running. You could try the playbuttonpatch - see:

Might be a userdata issue -you could delete user data and do a clean re-install ..

All things work right after installing the newest nightly build except the joystick.AppleRemote.xml didn't take effect....

This issue appears to have re-appeared with Kodi 15 Alpha-2. Anyone else experiencing this?

Yes I still see it. I use a two second delay and start kodi from AppleScript. Obviously not critical but be great to see a fix.

Interested do you also get issues if start from menu press is on (I do) ?

Got it. I am now always facing this issue. Both with "start from menu press" is enabled and also when it is disabled. So, the issue is more material than it was in the past. Would be great to see this sorted out and fixed! Thanks!

Seeing this problem with KODI 15.2 on El Capitan. Not opening on login and just starting manually after a reboot seems to fix.

Same here (el cap and 16b5).

Open kodi at login .. Apple remote doesn't work - Easy work-around use startup delay

Be great to get "start from menu pressing" sorted though as there is mo work-around

Apple remote does not work with KODI when set to open at login.

Up/down buttons are passed through to sys volume up/down but otherwise nothing.

If I manually quit KODI then launch it again, the remote works.

Debug log here - nightly kodi-20141113-1234cdd-master-x86_64.dmg

Steps in log:

Reboot mac
XBMC launces at login (debug already on)
Try remote - nothing except signs of attempted up/down system volume (falls through to o/s - in my case I use hdmi so give the the no vol change icon ..)
Use keyboard to upload log file

Apple remote button clicks occur between line 474 to 475 (no debug info)

I have also tried Memphiz's test build to fix failure to launch on menu press - http://mirrors.xbmc.org/test-builds/osx/...x86_64.dmg which gave the same behaviour.
