Some of your designs try too hard to throw everything but the kitchen sink into them. I saw your first concept and got a "Wow that looks great." Sometimes your subsequent edits destroy the original artististic intent. Not every view is designed to contain every flag.
I feel the same way about your panel widgets. The original design was superior to the version I provided to you. The final product was too busy. If you look at the current design world (e.g. Apple and Microsoft), minimalist is in.
This is just my honest two cents, of course. I'm not out to hurt anyone's feelings. I think you know what you're doing most of the time, but fold to pressure to change it.
I think that's a little unfair I welcome your opinion but you keep saying things like too busy... Take RightList view for example you say you liked my original design but it now is too busy when the same elements are on the screen just in different places. I tried it with less media flags but that left very large gaps between them. Since there is so much space why not add those that fit? The only things added not in the original design besides the additional media flags are director, genre, and now imdb logo and number. I only added those because there is now more room on screen since the year and rating are not in the list. I want your opinion but talking about things like my artistic intent or that I fold under pressure are not helpful and feel like an attack just because it does not look the way you want it to. Instead maybe you could offer a helpful suggestion like add a toggle to hide some elements since I think it would look better if more of the fanart was visible... This comes down to offering something that will appeal to many not just the few and in my opinion most of the time it comes with revision not starting a design and keeping it without changes.
You're right. I wasn't very constructive. Lazy typing, lazy mind today.
My suggestion: The line containing the floorsublabel var with the IMDB icon made the view to information-dense. It looks so over-the-top. Remove this and the view looks right.
Having the year next to each movie was also superior. The extra information seemed added on just to appeal to everyone's tastes.
The panel widgets only bothered me because you split the title and rating and moved them to opposite sides of the poster. This looks sloppy and makes them hard to read. Again, I thought you did it to appeal to those who complained about not being able to see the poster. Having the title and rating at the bottom of the poster using the logo_back.png to highlight the text looked very good. I thought your eye was right and others were wrong.
I think you second-guess too much, I guess. But I know you're trying to design in a democratic way.
