I also know that feeling when you release something just as you notice an errorHere is where design constraints come into play... I can easily separate submenu from main menu but to easily incorporate the two, simplification seemed the best so I could not add the infoline to the layout since properties do not work inside them, while this can be overcome, the outcome was a ballooning of the code and that is what I try to avoid first and foremost... The current implementation is if you have a submenu picked for the item the first click opens the submenu and the second will open the item:
I'm not a huge fan of the topbar so if I had that menu I would like the option to turn off the top bar. Then the weather and time/date could float in the top right corner and maybe use graphics like the confluence skin.
Would the submenu come out on left from the main menu items? If so would it be a horizontal line across or another vertical menu, my preference would be vertical. Same question for widgets as well, again preference would be vertical but it could be a choice for the end user to make. Hey, only a few more conditions to test
If you would like a second pair of eyes on it for testing, let me know.
Here is another pic showing the Movies submenu open:
As stated all of this is currently up in the air so suggestions and opinions are welcome.
My current opinion of widgets would be to center align them just like the main menu item. Widgets however are exclusive to Mr. V and his choice so a suggestion/request to his thread would be where that should go
