OK, controller input re-worked. This current approach works butter than trying to emulate missing buttons. Sometimes I slip into engineer mode and start solving problems that don't exist... Thanks for keeping me on track

I've heard great things about this project, but it looks like it's only available to backers right now? Does anyone have a link for research purposes?
A few people have started compiling my input work, so here's the status of this project:
- The joystick add-on scans for joysticks and emits joystick events
- Kodi handles the scan results by creating joystick objects
- Kodi hands the events to the joystick objects, events should get mapped to physical buttons but aren't hooked up to anything yet
- The joystick add-on is in charge of the actual mapping, but this hasn't been implemented yet
So, the next steps are:
- Sync joystick add-on's API with Kodi so the add-on DLL loads
- Implement basic/stubbed button mapper
- Forward physical buttons to game console "ports"
- Load joystick.xml actions
- Map buttons with no port to joystick.xml action
- Fully implement button-mapper
