Zotac ZBOX BI320 *Opinion please* Too good to be true?
Can this handle hardware deinterlacing of 1080i content?
Reply
Yes - the 2955/2957U Haswell Celerons will do a VAAPI Motion Compensated Deinterlace in recent OpenElec builds. Very good quality. Think the BI320 has the 2957U - it's a great chip.

HD Audio bitsreaming, no 24p bug etc.

I wonder if, in addition to running Kodi, it can handle my MySql Server for Kodi. Then I could shut down the desktop and go green Smile

Wow, that's an unfortunate limitation/oversight.

That's from S5 (off). From S3 (standby) you should be able to turn it on. The keyboard definitely will wake it in Win 8.1 from S3.

Oh, I misunderstood. That's good, thanks. It seems like this is the same as the new HP Stream mini, but with a bigger SSD and no keyboard/mouse?

Thinking of buying one but I don't seem to find any info on what kind of memory it supports. 1.35v or 1.5v?
I have 4GB of 1.5v memory laying around and was planning to add it to this box.

Cut from the spec in their user manual:

System Memory support
Two 204-pin SO-DIMMs DDR3L-1600/1333 (1.35V)
Up to 16 GB of memory
=========

Sorry you're still stuck with that memory Sad

The memory voltage is adjustable in the BIOS from 1.25V to 1.65V.

I'm not so sure about that.

That would be cool if true.

What do you mean if true? I have a BI320 and have been in the BIOS myself and seen the option and confirmed it can be changed. I suppose it's possible that there's an option the BIOS that doesn't actually change the voltage on the board, but that would be rather strange I'd think.

Well there you go! You learn something new everyday!

RE my previous question about MySQL: Is anyone running it on this box with Kodi?

EDIT:

It works! I added an additional 2gb memory (total of 4gb now) Installed MySQL server and workbench and all seems fine to me!! Now I can turn off the 650W Power hogging PC!
