It looks very strange because i never downloaded an alpha of the version 15 just your branch.
I tested now on another computer and log say:

Are BD-J menus definitely not working via SMB or NFS network mount yet?

I am able to compile Ace's branch on Linux and would like to help test, but I'm not able to play anything from locally attached storage.

Ok i did my homeworks:
after enabling the debug log i found that some java files was missing so i removed the jre and installed the jdk, updated the JAVA_HOME and the files missing disappear.
now with j2sdk-1_3_1_28-windows-i586.exe
i get this error:3:20:05 T:5212 DEBUG: CDVDInputStreamBluray::Logger - libbluray/bdj/bdj.c:474: Failed to create new Java VM. JNI_CreateJavaVM result: -3

Finally got around to look into this again. I thought I already removed the JAVA_HOME variable with the previous log, not sure though. Anyway, rebooted today, JAVA_HOME was not set, tried with another BDMV folder and apparently now it works with the SDK.
