I followed all manuals but my live TV refuses to stream to my rb2. The only time it worked was when i selected ffmpeg instead of tsreader in the xmbc addon. This resulted in a greenish kind of blurred image. Nog sure if this was the result of a buffer/network problem or the not activated mpeg2 codec. So i just want tot make sure by asking here, can you use tsreader within the addon with MePo on a Windows 7 machine? Or do I need tot use the ffmpeg way of playback in the xmbc addon on a raspberry pi 2?
If I use the tsreader on my raspberry I always get a not allowed error as if the live TV and recorder TV are not shared correctly but I know that this not a problem.

You can use tsreader for playback on Windows, and also with OpenELEC on Raspberry Pi 2. I do both all the time.

I've no idea what is wrong, as you have not provided any logs.

Just tried with SSH enabled on the Raspberry PI to login via putty to the correct IP address with pi/raspberry but "Acces Denied".
This is strange, no connection possible from my laptop ...

Just learned that I use the wrong credentials. The correct one should be:

Login: root
Password: openelec

Hopefully this evening I have a log-file ...

Somehow it cannot open the timeshift file on the share. This is very strange because it is on a Windows 7 machine with no firewalls enabled and the share itself is located on the same machine. It is a RAM-disk that is shared where Everybody has full control.
This error log is created when I use my share-names as settings within MediaPortal (so: instead of locical path: R:\ I used \\Perlian4\R)

I've seen lots of reports of problems with MediaPortal and RAM disks over the years.

First things first (and sorry if you've already answered this), does it work if MediaPortal is installed on the same PC? That is, do all channels and recordings play fine in MediaPortal?

Secondly, exclude any possible 'different' configurations. In this case the RAM disk. Relatively few people use these, so it will be a less tested scenario.

MediaPortal works without any problems on the same PC. It runs with a cardserver and all channels can be watched. It is used by the whole family and has no problems. Even when I change the RAMdisk into a location on my SSD it does not work:

No idea then. You're not providing a full description of the problem, so it's hard to know what to suggest.

Situation:

1 Mediacenter with windows 7, MediaPortal 1.10, 2 Anysee tuners + Phoenix Card reader connected to the tv downstairs.
1 Raspberry Pi 2 With Openelec Kodi XMBC (will be connected to to the tv upstairs).

MediaPortal is fully working. We watch television downstairs on the mediacenter. Everything works free-to-air and Encrypted channels.
I wanted to install a Raspberry Pi 2 upstairs so we can use MediaPortal to watch television. Downstairs we also have a second computer
with Windows 7. I installed the MediaPortal client and was able to watch Live television without any problems over the network.

Steps I did (following http://kodi.wiki/view/MediaPortal_TV-Server):

1) Install plugin in MediaPortal and made sure that the paths for Recorded TV & Live TV are shared and Permissions --> set to full control
2) Installed the MediaPortal PVR Plugin on the Raspberry Pi 2 and point to the IP-address of my MediaPortal server. Alle channels (+ EPG) and recordings are loaded succesfully
3) Try to start the Live-TV on the RaspPI (within TVguide choose change channel). Nothing happends. Log file shows the Unable to open file : 'smb://PERLIAN4/buffer/live16-1.ts.tsbuffer'

I tried:

a) Change the Live-TV buffer to the SSD but still no Live-tv possible (see last log-file)
b) Change the locations of live-tv and recordings on the MP server to the shares instead of using logical file paths (So using \\Perlian4\R instead of R:\)

Someone any idea what I could try next ?

Add smb://perlian4/ as source in Kodi's filemanager!

Added the smb://perlian4/ within the filemanager and did some testing with the shares:

1) tested with my live-tv buffer on the RAM-disk:

Just removed the windows 7 MP machine from the workgroup. I read that this could also influence the smb-mappings. But ahhhhh also not working ---> Again: INFO: SMBFile->Open: Unable to open file : 'smb://PERLIAN4/buffer/live14-0.ts.tsbuffer'

Working !! Steps I took:

1) Removed MediaPortal machine from WORKGROUP
2) added an Administrator user to the MP machine and used him as executing user for the TVservice of MP
3) added this user to the MediaPortal add-on in Kodi

I now store my live-tv buffer on my SSD. I will try to see if I can use my RAM disk as live-tv buffer but for now I think I will leave it ...
But I think that I will not have the Permission Denied since I now use this new Admin user. Next week I will give it another try for this to work.
I do not want to harm my SSD since there are lots of write actions performed.

Before all this I did notuse a user within the Add-on because I thought that if I give everyone Full control on my MP machine that this would be enough...
