Hello,

it would be nice to have some comparison between HD5500 and HD6000 as well (i3 vs i5 Broadwell). So if anybody has a chance to post the results, it would be great. I am still struggling whether the i5 is worth the extra money.

Hi - im running Kodi 14.2 (Ubuntu) on a NUC 5i3RYK - everything seems to be working (except the known bios problem with the CIR). However I can not get a preview for live tv when I switch to HD channels (VDR VNSI). Also the background is also just a black screen when im watching HD Channels. There is only a visible TV image when I switch the Fullscreen. With SD Channels everything works though - until I switch to fullscreen and back - then the preview isn't visible. Using Win 8.1 the problem does not exist. Maybe someone has an idea how to solve that ? Tia!

edit: when using software decoding it works...maybe a problem of the intel graphics driver for linux ?

Didn't want to wait for too long and bought another i3 which should get here next week. One of the first things I'll do will be testing out HEVC playback, including 4K HEVC.

The germans did some hevc tests with openelec and 14.2, not very extensive though, they did report fps drops probably because of driver or software problems.

installing drivers from ppa:wsnipex/vaapi seems to fix it.

Ubuntu sadly ships fully outdated drivers by default. Therefore we package those for the vaapi ppa: Source code: https://github.com/fritsch/libva-intel-d...-new-1.5.0
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Can anymore people from here confirm if it's true that Pulse-Eight's upcoming internal HDMI-CEC will not be plug-and-play compatible with 5th-gen Intel NUC?

Replies and comments in those other threads linked above seems to indicate that even this newly announced adapter will not compatible out-of-the-box?

It won't be plug-and-play. It has been confirmed by that report that there is no custom solutions header anymore, so there's nothing to connect the CEC wire to. Points are still there, so you can solder it on.

Edit: And yes, I do find that move by Intel to be rather disappointing.

No. They're "working on it", whatever that means.
