Hi Guys, was hoping to have this out much sooner but was hung up waiting for new skin.helper script. New version has been accepted into the main Kodi repo and should be available to the various mirrors within the next day or so.

Anyway announcing AppTV skin 1.5.0. This is the Krypton release of my skin, those people still on Jarvis will continue to use 1.4.5.
The last few updates from me have been following a Tick/Tock update schedule. This is more of a Tick update, although there are a few substantial changes, so more of a TICK update. Some of the changes include :

Update to support Krypton Kodi. Should now handle all changes to Kodi Krypton skin engine and user facing interface changes as a result.
A number of changes to the home screen customization screen. Has now been expanded to handle playlists and Kodi commands from this screen. Skin now also allows the assigning of Home screen customization's from most places within the skin (available from first menu item in the items context menu).
Support for the new version of the skin.helper script. There are a number of small changes and new features brought about by this change.
On screen display has been reworked as the number of buttons was becoming unmanageable. Now if there are related buttons available for the currently focused button, they will appear just above the focused button. To access these buttons navigate UP to the related buttons and select as you normally would. Navigate DOWN to return to the main button bar.
Further to the above item, skin now has CMS and TEMPO up/down buttons. These will appear if your Kodi settings allow access to these functions.
A number of INFO screens have had a makeover to bring them in line with the skin standard INFO screens. Music and Addon INFO screens now match the look and feel of Video INFO screens. More INFO screens to follow in future updates.
Various minor code cleanups and bug fixes.

In addition to the above major changes there have been a number of minor changes as suggested by users over the last few months. Check and see if one of your pet peeves has been rectified.

As always, post here if you have any issues or suggestions for the next release, at this stage it will probably be out sometime after 17.1 is available and will just be a standard Tock type release.

Hi Wyrm, great work!

One thing: Can you please bring back "Add-ons" in the System menu. I'd like to avoid an extra Icon on the Homescreen, to access Add-ons menu in Icon mode. Would be fantastic!

Contents of System menu has nothing to do with me, this is controlled by Kodi. Add-ons are still there just buried a little deeper with the rearrangement of Kodi menu items. Take a look in the system settings menu (from memory it's two items below the skin settings menu). The second last sub menu item is Add-ons. That's where you can then work your way thru the Add-ons tree of menus.

Using 1.4.5 , LibreELEC Jarvis 16.1
I have a box which when it turned on it booted with default Horizontal menu.
It has always been set to Icon and something has gone wrong.
I entered the skin settings menu and entered Icon but it wont stick.
Basically Icon selected just wont activate.
I did a fresh Kodi install and installed the skin again with the same result.
I just installed your skin on MacOS kodi jarvis 16.1 and the same issue.

Please don't use Mega for log uploads. Use either pastebin or better still use the built in log uploaded included with the skin in the skins support menu. Just off the top of my head until you post the log file using a service that does not require me to download yet another program to view it, has the skin helper script been updated recently and if so what version of the script is being used by your system. Also you are aware that version 1.5.0 of my skin is now available (Krypton only). Once I move to a new version of Kodi, support for older versions of the skin is servierly limited, as hopefully any bugs in an earlier version have been fixed and I have only limited time to dedicate to the skin.

I am aware of Krypton AppTV 1.5.0 Version.
I run Krypton via SD Card Boot but not fully working for what i need "Yet"

The Skin Helper Service is 1.1.3 both MacOS and My Media Box.
The errors are apparent in the limited understanding i have in interpreting logs.
I also restored from previous backup when the box was using Icon and that got it back.
Then i tried to change the settings to Vertical or Horizontal but the change won't stick. Stays on Icon.
So it looks like the change settings aren't sticking.

Yep is as I suspected. Skin helper script underwent a major rewrite and changed the handling of most things within. Problem is that 1.4.5 is using the old methods to access skin helper functions that have changed with the new release of skin helper.

Solution to the problem is to roll back skin helper to an earlier release (1.4.5 of my skin was written to handle 1.0.0 of skin helper script) so that my calls to the script match what it is expecting. Now there is an official way to roll back as listed on this wiki page (section you want is at the bottom of the page), but there is no guarantee that is will be available in your case, in which case you will need to make this happen manually.

Sorry I can't be more help on this, but kind of out of my control. The other solution of course would be to update Kodi to Krypton and my skin to 1.5.0 (maybe soon to be 1.5.x), but that maybe a problem as well.

The only good thing is Everything works Perfect with 1.4.5 and skin helper 1.1.3 Except the attempt to set Icon in settings.
I would have to say the AppTV skin 1.4.5 using Jarvis may have to be marked as fully working with default horizontal or nothing.

Everything works perfect.

Knew the issue was familiar for a reason, this issue bit me while I was working on the new version of the skin. The new version of skin helper script will silently fail if the selection dialog code includes an image displayed next to the text. Now most of my code for 1.4.5 included this, so will cause problems for most of the skin settings that bring up a selection dialog, not just home screen type.

A proper fix for the issue would be to replace the skin settings.xml file that is in the skins extras directory with a file that does NOT have any icon="some-value". That is ALL of the icon= entries in this file should read icon="".

I will think of the best way to make a corrected file available to users and post back here with the details. Otherwise if you think you can manage the change yourself, just edit the file listed above with the changes.

I only eliminated the icon= "" in the Home menu section without touching the Quit button section first.
Realised the Quit option to choose Power Menu did not show so i did the eliminate png in that part of the code as well.
That worked a treat.
Very Grateful. Can i just use the file i created for the Mac OS and copy it to the same Directory on my LibreELEC Box ?

Kostaman, nail ALL of the icon= tags as any setting in that file that has a non empty tag will not work. The exact issue is that I was just using files from my textures.xbt file and that no longer works in the newer versions of the skin helper script.

And yes, you can use the exact same file on any platform. I would have suggested that you grab the latest version of the file from my git hub account, but I have made a number of changes to that file for 1.5.x of my skin and I'm not sure if those changes would cause you problems.

Thanks both of you! This has been driving me nuts. I too am on Jarvis as I am running 4 chd modded atv 1's and therefore can not upgrade to Krypton. Love this skin but it was a real pain without being able to set anything. Would be nice for those of us on Jarvis to have a quick bug release with this mod. as not being able to use those dialog screens is a bit of a deal breaker. I will do it manually for now though. Thanks again!

REALLY QUICK QUESTION... Is there anyway to add more spaces on the home screen? I have over 100 addons and would love to add them all to the icon style home screen.

Is there a setting that I can mod to add a few more extra rows to the home screen? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

That's a lot of addons! not sure 100 icons is the way to go.
My suggestion is to use Super Favourites add-on.
Make super favourite folders according to the add-ons type (eg: music, programs, videos etc) and then make those folders individual add to kodi favourite.
You can then add each folder to the home screen as icon.
