@learningit, i believe you should have a testing repo, it's more better not to always go to git for addons

@learningit,

Thank you so much for putting together this wonderful add-on. It certainly has become one of my beloved favorites.

Just wondering, is there a way for me to turn on English subtitles while watching a clip via the add-on?

Reason I ask is that on Smithsonian's own website, one can do so.

A simple script edit perhaps, or an update if it's not too much to ask?

Not so simple an edit. You can try V1.0.3 with closed captions and proxy support in my git:

You need to enable subtitles in addon settings.
If you like this addon you should also try my PBS ThinkTV addon. The latest version has some features such as subtitles that are not yet in the kodi.org repo version (it will be once testing is complete). You can get it in my git:

Thank you so, so much, T1M. Subtitles work!

Will definitely try your ThinkTV addon next. Just want to finish up on my remaining Smithsonian clips first.

Again, thank you for the awesome work and the quick reply.

@learningit,

Alright, you got me Smile

Couldn't wait to try out your PBS ThinkTV addon -- especially for viewing Frontline episodes -- so I did just a while ago. It works!

Much appreciated, T1M.

There were some website changes where a few more video resolutions were added. To be able to play 1080 please load V1.0.5 from my git.
You may need to reset your video resolution to your choice in addon settings after installing to get 1080.

The addon has been updated for metadata, selection of content type and view to allow better presentation in different skins.
A pull request has been submitted to the kodi.org repo and it should update in a few days.
If you can't wait V1.0.7 in my git: https://github.com/learningit/plugin.video.smithsonian/

The addon just passes the playable URL to the player in Kodi, so it's probably not the addon. You might check/ask in the hardware or android section of the forum.
