Android "Channel cannot be played" error
#1
I just recently installed Kodi onto my home theater system(s). It works fine on the server PC as well as a client PC.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 also. I installed the ARM .apk. It loads fine, with the default skin coming up, EPG data, etc.

Only problem is NO videos play! No sound, no video. Just error messages or even less.

I have a Silicon Dust HDHR which pulls in OTA. I also have a HDHR Prime which is connected via cablecard. I have recordings sitting on the server PC.

None of these 3 types of files can be played. I get a "channel cannot be played" error when I select a program from the EPG. If I select from the channel list or the recorded video list, it does nothing and does not post an error message.

I've looked at the kodi.log, and here are some relevant entries:
09:39:05 T:2064251120 WARNING: CDVDMessageQueue(player):Tongueut MSGQ_NOT_INITIALIZED

09:39:42 T:2122520256 ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening [pvr://channels/tv/All channels/39.pvr]

I did also notice this error:

09:37:34 T:2108739632 ERROR: AddOnLog: PVR WMC Client: Recorded tv 'smb://HTPC-PC/Recorded TV' does not exist
09:37:37 T:2113970112 NOTICE: Thread PVRGUIInfo start, auto delete: false

09:37:51 T:2108739048 NOTICE: virtual void EPG::CEpgContainer::Start() - EPG thread started

Is there an error in how my recording directory is interpreted? It works fine on my PC client.

If there's a way to upload the full .log please let me know.

Okay, here is my log:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=414238

After briefly perusing the log, I'm wondering if this is a network drive access issue.

It starts with a 'Recorded TV folder not found' error. This is odd because I can browse the files in the recorded TV folder on the server.

I first try to open a few recorded videos on the server, some recordings of Anthony Bourdain's The Layover. Looks like it is unable to open the files.

Then I tried to open a few channels. I was watching the ServerWMC server program, so I could see the tuners activate. Again, looks like the Android client can't access the temporary files on the same server.

Hope the log helps shed some light on this problem.

I have no idea, but it sounds a lot like this problem which is still being investigated: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=212892

Similar situation with WMC, recordings folder, and an Android device as the client.

It's like the SMB server just decides to reject the Android SAMBA client for no apparently reason.

Got it!

Silly-ly, I had not filled out the Folders tab setting on ServerWMC that says:

Use credentials on smb:// paths (Kodi clients)?
User name:
Password:

Now it works. Live TV buffering is really a pain, but it works!

Recorded video plays much smoother.

Thanks for heading me in the right direction.
