Linux Kodi udisks, why not udisks2? Should udisks be a dependency?
#1
I recently installed Kodi from the ppa on Ubuntu 14.04 desktop.

Ubuntu 14.04 does not have udisks installed by default, but uses udisks2.

Kodibuntu has both udisks and udisks2 installed.

To get Kodi xsession to automatically mount a USB hard drive, I was required to install udisks. A "custom-actions.pkla" file in /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/ was *not* required.

I might be naive, but will Kodi be moving to udisks2 in the future, or should udisks be marked as a dependency for kodi so future installs will provide a seamless Kodi experience in a standalone session?

Udisks2 replaced udisks at upstream:
http://udisks.freedesktop.org/docs/latest/

Udisks also has been removed from Debian unstable and testing thus it probably won't be available in next Ubuntu versions either:
https://packages.qa.debian.org/u/udisks.html

Migrating to udisks2 seems to be necessary to keep seamless Kodi experience.
