I posted some months ago vids of the shield handling demanding interlaced material pretty well. Who actually has a de-interlacing issue with shield, here?
If someone has, please post a video of the issue, or it doesn't exist.
The Bob setting was for aftv, which had (has?) an horrible comb effect in interlaced mpeg2. Mediacodec (surface) does not use it.
It all started with @wrxtasy wanting to know what kind of deinterlacing is available on the Shield. When I checked it on Kodi 17, I found no options for the deinterlacer and on Kodi 16 the options were only Auto/On/Off. The options seemingly had no effect also.

I certainly have no issue with the deinterlacer (because I really don't watch any interlaced content on the Shield or Kodi). All I wanted to know is why the deinterlacer options are missing from Kodi 17.

If my memory is correct if you disable the Hardware Acceleration options in Jarvis then you can pick more than just On Off Auto for deinterlacing.
