Kodi will automatically switch to s/w rendering if it's detected, and Shield has most surely the ponies to play it, but I have little experience myself, not being an anime fan Wink

It is not going anywhere and it's been clear for years now. They could use 10bit x265 instead since it's actually being supported but the real goal really seems to be to inconvenience the most people possible.
