Some people did have audio sync issues others didn't, for me I've never had any issues, even with the test version. I've always used exoplayer and never used the "recommended" TVHeadEnd settings, just set it for pass-through.
My only issue has been is if there was an error in the stream the video playback would just freeze and never recover. Just left with a spinning circle until I changed the channel.
