Kodi Media Player Options with 3D MVC & HD Audio
(2017-03-21, 10:54)wrxtasy Wrote: Just been browsing....

It seems AMLogic have added 3D Framepacking Display Modes to the Nougat Kernel code very recently:

https://github.com/khadas/linux/commit/e...73c221c543

Does this mean that the Mi box could be the first Android TV box to get 3D MVC support in addition to 4K HDR?

Anyone try this yet?

from Intel's site:
Quote:This update fixes an issue where some surround sound formats (7.1) do not work with HDMI 2.0 AV receivers.

Without making this into a Kernel development thread and getting way off topic, the AML FRA code starts HERE
(fine_tune_mode)

And these Policy Nums. 1 & 2 you might remember from MINIX U-9 Android Settings
Yes, I have seen those stickers, that's why I asked about it specifically Wink
Anyways... I took a look at the code and it looks like the adjustments are made under "DOWN_HPLL". The interesting thing about policy is that on Minix firmware "2" is the one for matching the refresh rate to that of the source frame rate.

All this has nothing to do with 3D or HD audio. So I will stop here Wink

Happy to discuss over in the U9 thread....

Only solves audio passthrough issues, but sadly not 3D.

Hope they solve it before they release the i5 and i7 NUCs or hope PowerDVD 17 lets you play 3D ISO via HDMI 2.0.

With Android? Guess not.

Anything is possible once the Chipset manufacturer starts adding Kernel and drivers support for Frame packing 3D output.

The stumbling block is getting developers that actually have 3D displays interested enough to implement it with AMLogic S9xx devices running say LibreELEC Kodi Krypton or OSMC Kodi Krypton.

Hello,

I would like to read ISO bluray in 3D. So I would like to buy the ZIDOO X8 drive.

I would not have access to the movie menu?
What I could still have the automatic subtitles of movies when I would read iso 3D?

I can have for the same price in the occasion the Zapitti mini 4K with chipset Realtek RTD1195, is it better than the zidoo x8?

Thank you for your help.

Ps: sorry for my english

Hi guys
Purely in terms of 3d picture quality and depth, can anyone compare zidoo x9s with pi3? Already have the latter, but need a second machine...

I have both and they are very very close. Doing an "eyeball" viewing test the zidoo seems to have more vibrant colours. 3D subtitles are weird on the Zidoo... they don't have any depth which can be distracting. I havent dug through the settings... maybe there's a way to adjust this with the external player.

I had both. While I felt that 3d depth was better on 9xs there is one substantial difference between them regarding HD-audio that you might not be aware of: Pi3 cant do passthrough but instead decodes to lossless 7.1 LPCM while 9xs can do passthrough ( also Atmos/X) but only decodes to max. 2.0 lossless LPCM or lossy dts core. Depending on your setup this might make a difference, it did for me since I needed the decoding to LPCM 7.1. So had to go with Pi3...
